Talks have raged on regarding the future and potential of the newly minted IFBB Pro Rubiel “Neckzilla” Mosquera. In the November 26, 2023 episode of The Menace Podcast, Chris Cormier argued Mosquera’s leg size surpasses that of Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay, a two-time Mr. Olympia titleholder.
“I don’t think his legs are a third of an inch less than Ramy’s ever were. Listen, keep in mind, he doesn’t even have the separation in the quads yet. Put the separations in there they are going to look twice as big,” explains Dennis James.
Mosquera has quickly emerged as a top-tier prospect within the Men’s Open class. Hailing from a rival federation, Mosquera made the jump to the NPC and the IFBB Pro League just recently. A week ago, Mosquera earned his Pro card without resistance and competed with some of the world’s best just 24 hours later.
Testing himself at the 2023 EVLS Prague Pro, Mosquera’s massive quads and freaky neck commanded the stage. He ultimately claimed bronze behind the former Prague Pro champ, Michal Krizanek, and 2023 Olympia third-place finisher Samson Dauda.

Following his astounding Pro debut, conversations about Mosquera’s future have taken center stage. Cormier, who trains the up-and-coming talent, made it clear that Mosquera possesses a one-of-a-kind physique. In fact, Cormier was so blown away by the Colombian’s lower body that he argued it could overpower Big Ramy, a bodybuilder who captured two Sandow trophies thanks to his bulletproof quads.
Chris Cormier Says Rubiel Mosquera’s Legs Outsize Big Ramy’s 35-Inch Quads: ‘He’s Every Bit of That’
First, Cormier laid out how he and Rubiel Mosquera met, which led to them working together.
“He came to the FIBO and he asked me, ‘Hey, let’s do some work.’ So we did a little work in the gym on his chest and he was feeling things he never felt. I know he never felt because I saw him before I did anything with him and I saw what he started doing and just bringing his physique, and then I was like, okay. Then we went to Greece, we trained there, we ate.”
“If he continues on and I was trying to talk to him then like, ‘Hey you need to come to the NPC and then the IFBB. There’s nothing for you over there.’ At the time they were giving him a little contract money to stay with that other federation,” said Chris Cormier. “Then all of a sudden, he made up his mind on wanting to come to the IFBB.”
According to Cormier, once Mosquera starts training in the US, “it’s a wrap” for his competition.
“You got to see him in person. He’s not impressive to me in the photos and the videos as he is in person.”
“I’m trying to see if I can help him get over to America. If I can get him in San Diego, it’s a wrap, a wrap wrap. I’ll get him in my house.”
As for Mosquera’s leg size, Cormier was confident he’d never seen someone with a comparable lower body, including Big Ramy. However, Milos Sarcev and Dennis James were unsure if Mosqeura’s legs could out-size the Egyptian native.
“I’m telling you bro… I’d put my money on him more than anybody I know as far as that can make that type of difference,” said Cormier. “[His legs] are bigger than anybody’s I’ve ever seen in my life.”
“Bigger than Ramy’s? No. Come on,” said Milos Sarcev.
“He’s a fucking sight,” said Cormier.
“Ramy’s legs at his biggest were 35 inches,” said Dennis James.
“He is every bit of that, with the calves!” replied Cormier.
Cormier, James Discusss Weaknesses of Rubiel “Neckzilla” Mosquera
Chris Cormier explained that “Neckzilla” needs more development in his delts in addition to clarity in his serratus and obliques. Aside from that, Cormier mentioned that Mosquera must refine his back double biceps pose.
“The delts need to be more developed, more bigger. I would like to see the serratus and the obliques more diced and developed. I’d like to see more, his back double biceps is better, but it’s still very brand new. It’s an un pushed, it hasn’t really been tampered with. He’s just got that… I don’t know. I don’t even know how he got to the way he looks. I don’t know how he got there.”
Given Rubiel Mosquera’s shocking muscle mass, Dennis James suggested that he might have a myostatin deficiency, which is a genetic condition that results in increased skeletal muscle mass.
“I don’t understand how the growth – because he had no chest when we first started doing stuff.”
“You know what that’s called? It’s called myostatin deficiency,” said James.
“Possibly,” added Sarcev.
“He’s not taking much stuff. I know people in the comments are like he must be taking so much,” added Cormier. “He don’t eat that much food.”
As Mosquera’s coach, this wasn’t Chris Cormier’s first time discussing his pupil’s potential and future. Shortly after Mosquera earned third at the 2023 Prague Pro, Cormier took to an Rx Muscle interview to lay out his future plans. Cormier said Mosquera’s next bodybuilding show was still being considered and hinted that the upcoming 2024 Arnold Classic wasn’t on the table.
Although Rubiel Mosquera has not secured a victory in a Pro show, he consistently garners comparisons to renowned figures like Ronnie Coleman and Big Ramy. The anticipation within the bodybuilding community is palpable as “Neckzilla” aims to make his mark at the top of the Open class in the months to come.
