Fans clamoring to witness Michal ‘Krizo’ Krizanek shake up a bodybuilding contest will have to wait a while longer. In Instagram story posts shared on August 19, 2024, he confirmed he won’t compete at the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro and plans to return in 2025 better than ever.
Michal Krizo made his 2024 bodybuilding debut at the Empro Classic Pro and he didn’t disappoint. He went to war with some of the sport’s fiercest contenders, including William Bonac (a former two-time Arnold Classic champion) and Behrooz Tabani en route to taking a third-place finish.
Krizo would have needed to earn his big ticket imminently. Why? The deadline to qualify for Olympia expires on September 15. Fans of Krizo shouldn’t get too excited, however, as he revealed on Instagram that he was struggling with shoulder pain which was preventing him from making the gains needed for a productive season.
After careful consideration, Michal Krizo decided to no longer pursue a qualification for the 2024 Mr. Olympia. Instead, he continued to train, despite his limitations, believing that his recovery would take only six weeks at most, allowing him to compete later this year in November at the EVLS Prague Pro, an event near and dear to his heart.

Michal Krizo Not Competing at 2024 EVLS Prague Pro, Eyes Comeback in 2025
Unfortunately, things aren’t going as planned for Michal Krizo. A.J Kelly Roberts on Instagram shared an update after Krizo’s shoulder surgery. Originally, Krizo made it clear he wanted to push his chips into the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro to qualify early for the 2025 Mr. Olympia, but due to his ongoing recovery efforts, he will be unable to fulfill that obligation.
AJ Kelly Roberts spoke to Krizo’s coach and confirmed that not only is his training extremely limited at this time, but revealed he was dealing with two torn tendons throughout the entire year. This makes his last contest even more impressive since he navigated it while injured. Luckily, those issues looked to have been resolved, but the healing process will remain Krizo’s top priority before committing to another bodybuilding show, likely in 2025.
Here is A.J Kelly Robert’s official statement on Krizo’s current outlook:
“Breaking news 📰 on TOP 10 Olympian @ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek . I just spoke to @ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek who is fresh out of surgery. He just had a SUCCESSFUL shoulder surgery. The doctor just found out that he had 2 TORN TENDONS for over a YEAR 👀.
“@ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek will be out from the gym for about 8 -12 weeks , but is expected to have a FULL Recovery. Obviously the good news is that they fixed this problem NOW as if he had continued to train with 2 torn tendons,, it would have been a disaster.”
“We are predicting a WAY improved @ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek some time in 2025 as he has been restricted from training fully for a long time. Speedy recovery to @ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek and I’m predicting a better than EVER @ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek in 2025 #mrolympia” Roberts wrote.
Michal Krizo also provided images on Instagram throughout his procedure.
Michal Krizo’s doctor also provided a post-op update on Instagram, sharing that he was feeling good after the operation.
“Today a successful operation at @medican_clinic MUDr.Kuchta and @ifbb_pro_michalkrizokrizanek and only complex rehabilitation at @proclinictrnava 🤝 Best Slovenian Kulturist 🇸🇰💪 Križo feels very good after the operation ….”
Even though Michal Krizo is already thinking about next year, the 2024 bodybuilding season hasn’t wrapped up yet. With very few opportunities for Men’s Open contenders to qualify, the pressure is mounting for the athletes who haven’t secured their place at the Mr. Olympia this October. Among the bodybuilders who have yet to earn passage is Hunter Labrada, who many believe will earn his ticket with a win at the 2024 Promuscle Italy Pro.
Michal Krizo will be missed on the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage, set to celebrate the 60th anniversary in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 10-13. Thankfully, Krizo is on the road to making a full recovery with plans of coming back improved in 2025!
