In a recent Instagram post shared on December 9, 2024, Choopan posted a shredded physique update, emphasizing that he’s ‘cut harder than a diamond’ and that judges denied this truth on the sport’s greatest stage.
Having etched his name into the prestigious Sandow trophy in 2022, Hadi Choopan has become one of the biggest stars in the Men’s Open division. He boasts exceptional conditioning in every contest appearance and while that has largely led to success, it didn’t on the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage.
At the event, Hadi Choopan went toe-to-toe with Samson Dauda, who brought a new level of detail and definition to his physique in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were tied throughout prejudging, but Dauda’s adjustments in the finals saw him pull out the win, albeit by only three points on the scorecards. Judging by his demeanor on social media, the close call has kept Choopan up at night.

While it’s unclear if Samson Dauda was directly responding to Choopan’s claim, he also shared a physique update with an interesting caption:
“V-taper… Mass x Aesthetic” shared Samson Dauda.
Choopan’s statement begs the question: should conditioning take precedence on the Mr. Olympia stage over shape and size? Although Choopan is easily the most conditioned athlete on stage at just about every Olympia he enters, some argue that it’s the sum of all aspects of bodybuilding such as shape, size, balance, conditioning, proportions, and aesthetics that define a champion.
Dauda and Choopan have a history. In addition to their showdown at the recent Mr. Olympia, they also squared off at the Arnold Classic Ohio and UK competitions, where ‘The Persian Wolf’ got the nod in both events. As of this writing, Dauda has declared his entry for the Arnold Classic, inviting Choopan and Derek Lunsford to join him.
