Brandon Curry is on many people’s shortlist for winning the 2019 Mr.Olympia. Three weeks away from the competition, he opens up about what his training has been like for the event.

This year’s Olympia will see the crowning of a new champion, and many people think that could be Curry. He is among others like Roelly Winklaar and William Bonac when people look at the competition to see who will win. However, Curry knows just big of an opportunity this is and has been training accordingly.

In an interview with RxMuscle Curry talks about what this training has been like, and how he manages to stay focused. He was asked how he deals with the pressure of potential going down in history as one of the best bodybuilders in the world.

“Well it’s about execution, it’s about executing each day. It’s not about thinking about it, it’s about getting the work done. It’s about looking at it appropriately, and taking each day and winning each day, one day at a time, and, being meticulous. You know, not settling for mediocrity in any kind of way.

The mindset is about the work that needs to be done, the adjustments that need to be made. and the package that needs to be brought in, to create this reality that I’m seeking. So that’s where my mind is.

It’s no pressure. I’ve been bodybuilding for a long time, Winning is the ideal, so right now I’ve just got a winners mindset, and I know what it takes. I know what it takes to win.”

Curry went on to explain what keeps him motivated when he does not want to train.

“Well typically you got to analyze it properly. It’s not for no reason, so you got to look at the patterns. For me I track generally how many calories and stuff I’m burning a day, how much sleep I’m getting.

So I look at some of those things and see maybe the reasoning behind it, why I’m getting wore down, or what changes or adjustments have been made to cause that to happen.”

Additionally, Brandon Curry explained how sometimes one must push themselves even when they don’t feel like it. However, the conversation then switched to the people competing. Subsequently, he was asked how different his mindset is, considering high-level competitors like Phil Heath and Kai Green do not seem to be competing this year.

“I base my experience on not only my competition, because I know my competition is there, but I base my experiences and my confidence on my ability to improve. That’s the biggest factor to me, is my own ability to improve upon the package I previously brought to the stage. It’s what gives me the confidence.

I’m questioning that in my competition, whether they have the same ability to improve. So if I’m at an advantage with my ability to improve, then that gives me confidence against my competitors.”

As for what he has improved on, Brandon says he has hit a stride since the Arnold Classic.

“I don’t know if it’s just a sweet spot or magical moment right now, but the muscular maturity right now is, I don’t know, it’s taken over. I think I’m at  my prime season, I find that this prep has been different from the Arnold prep. I’m having trouble bringing the scale down like I would normally want to see it at.

Besides the scale not wanting to move much, my conditioning is steadily improving. So it’s a conundrum that confuses you, but you know that your body’s changed. So I’m doing all the cardio, I’m doing all the work in the world. I’m actually working harder than I ever have. It’s just that everything is sticking to me a lot better.”

Curry then explained that while it is not his goal to get bigger, he still finds himself there. Despite this, he struggles because he wants to focus on his conditioning. Furthermore, they further discussed Curry’s sleep routine in Kuwait, where he trains. Then they finished up by discussing when he will be showing up in town, for the competition.

You can watch the full interview below. However, Brandon Curry successfully made his case for why he will be the 2019 Mr. Olympia Champion.
