Brandon Curry Discusses 2023 Olympia Health Scare, Hints at International Show Next
“For my brain fog, I took two tablets. I threw them down and I drunk and left it at that. I started drinking a little shake or something because I was about to go to the gym I was getting myself ready to go and I realized it wasn’t going down right.I’m thinking it’s not going down right what’s going on? I’m like okay, I’m going to force it down. I grab a gallon jug go out to my balcony in case I spit it up and start slamming the water. I realized I hit a brick wall in my throat. All the water came back up and I’m like oh man this is not good.”
“I feel like something is coming up. As I’m drinking water outside I start spitting up and I realize it’s blood coming up. Oh, man, this is crazy. So, I’m hoping I’m like, I still feel like it’s stuck in my throat something is still stuck it’s not going down. My buddy is like do you want to go to the ER and I’m like nah let’s wait it out for a minute.”“Blood was coming up every time I sip water. I’m like okay, this is not good. Eventually, we go to the ER and we are maybe like five hours or so before check-ins,” said Curry. “They get me a CT scan and realize that I have inflammation in my chest cavity. They don’t know specifically what’s causing it.”
“Basically, it’s going to take five minutes, they told me they going to put me under. They going to go in, look in there see what’s going on, if anything is in there, they told me the lady told me if anything is in there, [they will remove it] and then you’ll be good.”

As for his future, Curry mentioned that he and his team are entertaining an international show on the horizon. If he commits to this obligation, fans could see Curry back on stage before the next Olympia.
“Currently, I’m just looking at the Olympia. Now, there are some shows that are coming up before the Olympia that I have to I may consider. I may consider a pre-Olympia show but I haven’t got that finalized yet. Briefly discussed it with my coach but we haven’t really made any serious plans for it yet.”“It’s a possibility you may see me before the Olympia but right now you can count on seeing me at the Olympia,” said Curry. “More international shows is what we were thinking about, possibly.”
Curry’s 2024 Arnold Classic Predictions – Top 5
- Winner — Samson Dauda
- Second Place — Hadi Choopan
- Third Place — James Hollingshead
- Fourth Place — Marcello De Angelis (Horse MD)
- Fifth Place — Rafael Brandao
“The glutes have improved but I think he can still have room to improve in the glutes. I see the separation from the front, I see what he’s done to his upper body, chest and shoulders. I see those steadily improving but I’m sure he’s going to continue to improve in those areas. The traps, I think that’ll make a difference in his back shot.”“Yeah I think the traps will make a big difference in his back shots just when it comes to setting it up, just being there, because he’s got that big body,” adds Brandon Curry.
“As long as he [Samson Dauda] comes into prejudging dry enough, not too dry, but dry enough to be able to hold him off for the finals, I think he’s going to put himself in a good position. He has the fullness, he has the frame. He’s big but Hadi is going to come in and play his game.”
The second-biggest bodybuilding event of the year is rapidly approaching, prompting bodybuilding veterans from left, right, and center, to offer their picks. Thus far, Jay Cutler, Chris Cormier, and Dennis James have backed Hadi Choopan to come out with the big win whereas Milos Sarcev, Dauda’s coach, believes his pupil will win a second consecutive title.
The 2024 Arnold Classic’s anticipation is building as athletes aim to take to the stage in under three weeks. The livestream will be free, courtesy of bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger’s recent announcement.
