Bodybuilder Hadi Choopan has already cleared one of his biggest hurdles ahead of the 2024 Mr. Olympia and that was simply making it to the US. Now, with the biggest show of the year abound, he joined his coach Hany Rambod on September 4, 2024, for an intense chest workout.
Choopan reached the pinnacle of his career in 2022, laying claim to his lone Mr. Olympia title. On his way to capturing gold, ‘The Persian Wolf’ overwhelmed his teammate Derek Lunsford and third-place finisher Nick Walker. However, when it was time for the rematch in 2023, Choopan was unable to stop Lunsford’s improved back detail, ultimately leading to his defeat.
Instead of taking time to recollect himself, Choopan went full steam ahead at the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK events, both of which he won dominantly. With momentum in his corner, Choopan has worked tirelessly to showcase improvements at this year’s Olympia.

During incline dumbbell presses, Rambod gave insight into why they are slightly changing the angle of his wrist for a better range of motion.
“Guys, what I’m talking about is we’re just changing a little bit of just slightly changing the angle of his wrist so we can kind of go into a pronated barbell type movement because right now he’s almost like a slight three-quarter so what we want to do is just open it up just a little bit,” he shared.
Next, Choopan moves on to the Panatta Super vertical chest press.
“Basically, this is kind of their flat press, so there’s a decline, there’s a flat, and there’s an incline,” says Rambod. “Now we’re going into that flat and focusing on that.”
After intense sets on the incline plate loaded fly machine, decline press, and cable crossovers, Choopan practices some static poses to solidify his mind-muscle connection. He finished off the workout with slow and controlled repetitions on the Panatta horizontal multi press machine.
Hany Rambod touched on the challenge of ensuring Hadi Choopan’s arrival to the US given his history of visa issues in the past.
“2024 Arnold Classic champion coming in finally! Again, we definitely it’s always a stressful situation but being this is the first time he’s coming twice in one year, it’s even more stressful because we had to jump through even more hoops for the visa situation this year but we’ll get down to the details on that. We are just happy he’s here,” said Rambod.
“We are six weeks out today. To the day, literally. He would be getting on stage in a couple of hours from now. Six weeks and about three hours before you’d be on prejudging stage.”
Fans couldn’t be more thrilled to see Hadi Choopan take to the stage in just a few weeks. Retired bodybuilding legend Flex Lewis, who won seven 212 Olympia titles, believes a ‘scarier’ version of Choopan awaits Lunsford in October. He contends that Lunsford and Choopan will battle for first and second while Samson Dauda and Nick Walker will fight for third and fourth.
If Choopan can bring something on par with what was on display in his last two showings, many believe he could become a two-time Mr. Olympia champion. Don’t miss the return of the 2024 Mr. Olympia, set for Las Vegas, Nevada from October 10-13.
