“The RDLs, you’ll see Roy and I doing them. We’re doing them off of a two-inch DC block and that’s simply because it keeps us both in our active range taking those last little two inches off when I really lose my brace and my back ends up rounding,” says Hunter Labrada.
He also shared a few tips for performing an effective RDL:
“You’re not ever retracting at any point. The only thing we’re thinking about from the waist up is I want a braced core and packed lats.”
When executing reps of machine leg extensions, Labrada advocated for using straps for better gripping. Then, he wrapped up the session with his parting thoughts.
“That’s leg day. Two sets of seated hamstring curls, two sets of RDL, one set of leg press, one set of leg extensions, so six sets for the leg and then three for calves at the end. I don’t really count that towards the total volume.”
Last year, Labrada turned in an impressive string of performances which started with a victory at the 2023 Tampa Pro. Having also committed to the Texas Pro, Labrada delivered a stunning physique but was unable to stop Andrew Jacked from achieving gold. At his last Mr. Olympia competition, Labrada finished sixth.
Setting his sights on the future, Hunter Labrada has kept his training schedule calculated. He recently gave a walkthrough on his off-season arms workout, offering secrets about his selections for optimal muscle growth.
Fans are thrilled to see when and where Hunter Labrada plans to compete next. Should he claim a victory, he will be qualified for the 2024 Mr. Olympia competition taking place October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“It doesn’t take a lot if you are accurate and can take the sets to where you need to take them to. This was a great leg day. This is the standard one we have been running at the home place for probably six weeks now.”
