Hunter Labrada is determined to make another Mr. Olympia statement, but first, he has to qualify. In his latest effort on YouTube, Labrada guided fans through his walkthrough on how to properly execute cable tricep extensions for bigger arms.

Hunter Labrada has quickly established himself as a big name in the Men’s Open Bodybuilding category. After securing a sixth-place finish at last year’s Mr. Olympia, Hunter Labrada is kicking it into high gear as he prepares for this bodybuilding season with big goals. His focus remains on the future and qualifying for the 2024 Mr. Olympia show.

Labrada sports classic lines while maintaining the size of a mass monster with a tight waist. He has made meaningful improvements to his back and arms as of late, though to keep a symmetrical and balanced look, arms have remained an important focal point for Hunter Labrada. In a recent YouTube video, Labrada shared with fans his tips on how to perform cable tricep extensions to achieve more muscle mass.

“I think this is the best triceps exercise you could possibly do for your triceps. Like I said in our first exercise, it checks all the boxes from a joint alignment standpoint, a bracing standpoint, and a resistance profile standpoint.”

“I got to show y’all a little tip to do these and that is something that I learned from Joe Bennett. That is you put the clips like this because it makes a huge difference in the fact that it takes away like two or three inches worth of stuff that gets in the way when you’re doing them.”

Labrada goes into detail about maintaining proper posture to ensure a better rep.

“If you’re going to do them two-armed, you’re going to get in the cuffs like this and you’re going to concentrate on keeping that upper arm frozen we want our shoulders down and back and that upper arm frozen at the side. We want to be leaned over right here so that when we’re at the top of the motion, you can see how my arm is making the 90-degree angle with the cable. This is going to be the most resistance. It’s also when the triceps is longest in the exercise” Hunter Labrada said.

“As it gets closer, the resistance will mechanically drop off because of that so it’s getting lighter as the muscle gets shorter which is what we want.”

Hunter Labrada pointed out that this exercise doesn’t put unnecessary pressure on the joints and explained that cable tricep extensions have been his go-to exercise for years.

“Finally, as we are across with the cables as we come out, you’re able to see that cable is running pretty much down my arm on both sides. So the joint alignment is really great for this. A lot of the tried-and-true triceps exercises put a lot of torque on the elbows unnecessarily.”

“I love these, they check all the boxes for me. They have made up probably 80 percent of my triceps work for the last five years and I don’t have too bad of triceps.”

Labrada even went over a one-arm variation of the exercise while keeping the pulley, wrist, elbow, and shoulder in a straight line.

“The only thing that changes is since we are doing one arm we want to think about keeping the pulley, wrist, elbow, and shoulder all in relatively a straight line so we can get that good joint alignment.”

Hunter Labrada isn’t the only one to discuss tricep exercises. Bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler has previously revealed his ‘secret’ tips for getting huge triceps using rope press downs.

“I’m going to start with triceps. Rope press downs, I’m actually going to kneel on the floor with these. I’m going to get my body close to the machine. At the bottom I’m going to come out, I’m going to exaggerate what I’m doing but I’m going to come out like this” Jay Cutler said.

“This is really going to work your elbows, it’s going to work the long head of the triceps. Get all the blood flowing, and then we’ll go into some more compound movements.”

Aside from his Olympia ambitions, Hunter Labrada is already looking forward to next year and he has expressed interest in competing at the 2025 Arnold Classic. His interest was piqued after Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that the prize money would increase to $500,000.

Hunter Labrada continues to fine-tune his physique in preparation for his next contest. If he can secure a Pro show victory before September 15, Labrada will have the opportunity to face the best on the 2024 Mr. Olympia stage October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
