Bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler wants to see the sport grow so new talent can make its way through the ranks. On Oct. 28, 2025, via Instagram, he honored Preston Baker, a bodybuilding competitor with Down syndrome who continues to inspire fans from around the globe.
Having faced down the barrel of adversity, Cutler is no stranger to defying the odds in pursuit of greatness. During his illustrious career, his fame grew with his physique. In 2009, he etched his name into history after reclaiming the Mr. Olympia title he lost a year before to Dexter Jackson. Cutler quad-stomped his way to victory, proving he could hold his own when the chips were down.
He sees that same spirit in Preston Baker. While speaking at a function in Wisconsin, he drew inspiration from the young up-and-comer. Opportunities like these define Cutler’s legacy while allowing him to continue motivating others beyond the stage.

“For today’s #motivationmonday post I wanted to share a special moment from a guest appearance I made 2 weeks ago in Wisconsin.
I had the honor of presenting an award to a young competitor with Down syndrome named Preston Baker, and its moments like those that remind me what this sport is really about.”
Cutler gave thanks to Baker, noting that true strength isn’t just built in the gym, but through resilience and determination.
“Bodybuilding has given me a lot, trophies, titles, memories, but honestly nothing compares to seeing someone overcome every obstacle just to step on that stage. That kind of courage, that kind of heart, is what defines a true champion.”
“It’s easy to get caught up in chasing perfection, but the real victory is showing up, giving your all, and inspiring others along the way. Watching him stand there with confidence and pride hit me hard. It’s a reminder that strength isn’t just built in the gym. It’s built through resilience, determination, and love for the process.”
He emphasized that ‘we all have the power to inspire,’ as long as we keep showing up.
“If you’re reading this, never forget that someone out there is watching you and finding motivation in your journey. Keep showing up. Keep pushing forward.”
We all have the power to inspire. Thank you for inspiring me Preston,” shared Jay Cutler.
Down syndrome hasn’t stopped athletes from making waves in the fitness community. Canadian bodybuilder Kyle Landi has become a popular name in the industry, helping inspire the next generation of talent. He recently teamed up with former seven-time Mr. Olympia legend Arnold Schwarzenegger for a tough workout.
Despite retiring, Cutler’s mission to inspire others hasn’t slowed. Preston Baker’s story has motivated him and others to continue chasing their dreams.
