Jay Cutler is finally dropping some insight on who might walk away as the 2024 Mr. Olympia champion. In a recent Instagram post shared on October 9, 2024, Cutler revealed his top seven picks for the biggest event of the year, naming his title threats and dark horses before the show takes over Las Vegas, Nevada from October 10-13.
Joe Weider’s Olympia Fitness and Performance Weekend promises to be filled with non-stop bodybuilding action. IFBB Pros from around the world across all 11 divisions will vie for the throne of their respective categories, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Atop the Men’s Open headliner, mass monsters will wage war in the division Cutler once ruled over. Reigning two-division Mr. Olympia winner Derek Lunsford will aim to separate himself from the pack with unprecedented back detail but will have to get through the dry conditioning of ‘The Persian Wolf’ Hadi Choopan.
And that’s just the on-paper top two, as there are many rising threats eager to do damage at the marquee competition. No one has forgotten about Samson Dauda, who claimed third at the 2023 Olympia. He recently picked up steam with a win at the 2024 Tsunami Pro show.

Andrew Jacked, the self-proclaimed ‘Mona Lisa of Bodybuilding’ just won his third title at the 2024 Texas Pro, showcasing a new level of mass and conditioning to his physique. Martin Fitzwater, who gave Nick Walker a run for his money at the New York Pro, will aim to disrupt the lineup when all is said and done. Suffice it to say, the lineup is absolutely stacked, which has led Cutler to offer his two cents on what might happen.

Cutler first acknowledges the number one and two seeds in the competition, examining the legendary battle that will culminate between Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan in just a few short days.
“I want to talk about the potential top six. We have a lot of guys that are in contention for the title. You know, we have last year’s champion Derek Lunsford coming back.
Hadi Choopan was your champion prior to Derek. He’s trying to win the title back and do something that’s never been done before since I had done that in 2009 and the only one to ever do it in history. I think those guys are definitely going to be batting for the title.”
He then shines the spotlight on Samson Dauda, Andrew Jacked, and Brandon Curry, who Cutler believes all stand the chance of shocking the world at the 2024 Mr. Olympia.
“Now we also have Samson Dauda, he was third last year, he is definitely fighting for that position. Definitely a frontrunner, he’s looking really solid. But we also have Andrew Jacked coming up, who is looking tremendous these days. We have Brandon Curry who was a former Mr. Olympia, is he going to be in the fight for it?”
Cutler isn’t forgetting about Martin Fitzwater and Hunter Labrada, naming them as dark horses who could disrupt the lineup.
“But we also have the dark horse, Martin Fitzwater he’s really coming up. And we also have Hunter Labrada who was in the hunt last year. It’s a crowded top six this year but I think potentially, there can be anyone that wins it, I don’t think it’s a lock for sure for Derek to repeat. But definitely we have a lot of guys looking really really good and we’ll find out the second week of October who our champion is going to be for the 2024 Mr. Olympia.”
Jay Cutler isn’t the only bodybuilding mainstay to offer up Men’s Open predictions. Dennis James and Milos Sarcev have both backed Hadi Choopan to emerge victorious, especially after his success at the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK competitions.
The 2024 Mr. Olympia competition is just a few days away and fans couldn’t be more excited for the showdown. Don’t miss full coverage of the sport’s most consequential showcase when the curtains rise in Las Vegas, Nevada from October 10-13 in Sin City.
