At just 25 years of age, Canada’s own Jessica Buettner has firmly planted herself amongst the elite in female powerlifting. However she proved recently that she is still getting better, day in and day out.
There are many things about Jessica’s athletic career so far, that has been wildly impressive. Most recently she was seen crushing three unofficial world records in the 72kg division, during a mock powerlifting meet. All the while, she inspires other aspiring competitions, with her incredible story of overcoming Type 1 Diabetes in order to find success.
Even with these recent records, Jessica Buettner is not satisfied. A recent post to her Instagram shows that the Saskatchewan native can still push herself, even while training in her home. She can be seen here, completely blowing the doors off of four reps of a 463lb deadlift, as well as a strong 204lb paused bench press double.
“Deadlifts and forever pause bench from the @eleikosport takeover today!
463lbs**/210kgs x 4 might be the biggest beltless set I’ve done
And some 204lbs/92.5kgs x2 pause bench”

The primary focus of our attention comes from the solid deadlift set. Jessica says that this is likely the heaviest set that she has ever done, without a belt. Judging by the struggle she had pulling that fourth rep, that seems to make sense.
However Buettner has been working on her deadlifts a lot lately. Here she is a few days earlier, doing a hard deadlift session. It consisted of her pulling 440lb for three reps, doing so for three sets.
Jessica Buettner is one of the most exciting powerlifters to watch in training. As she explained in an exclusive interview with FitnessVolt (stay tuned for that), she plans to compete at the IPF World Championships later this year. It will be exciting to see how she is able to perform upon her return to action.p
