Joe Rogan Talks Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul Boxing Match: ‘If I Was Jake Paul I Would Be Shitting My Pants’

The anticipation surrounding the Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson boxing match continues to build online. In a recent YouTube video, Joe Rogan broke down the combat skills of both participants and explained why Paul should be afraid of Tyson given his status as a Hall of Fame boxing legend.

YouTube superstar Jake Paul jumped into the world of boxing seamlessly. Having defeated some of the biggest names from the UFC in the ring, including Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva, his record of 9-1 is nothing to scoff at. His only loss against Tommy Fury came by way of a split decision.

It was announced earlier this year and confirmed on March 7th, 2024, that Jake Paul would be in the ring again, this time against boxing legend Mike Tyson. Known for his exceptional power and ferocity inside the ring, Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion at age 20 and has been dominating ever since.

“He’s In That God of War Mode” – Joe Rogan Talks Mike Tyson’s Mentality Before Jake Paul Fight

Rogan has been a fan of Jake Paul, accepting him as a talented boxer even before the masses began recognizing his skills. However, that alone hasn’t convinced Rogan that Paul can leave this fight as the unscathed winner.

“A legitimate boxer, yes. People mocked me when I was saying that before but now, I think people are coming around. The way I look at it, I say if this kid was not a YouTuber, if he wasn’t some guy that you knew from the time he was 16 years old on YouTube, and you just saw him box, you saw him knock out former UFC champions, you saw him beat legitimate boxers, or beat athletes and beat a bunch of MMA fighters, you’d go, this kid can fucking fight. He knows how to fight.”

Rogan adds that Paul’s boxing fundamentals appear to be sound, which could make for an exciting clash.

“Nothing he’s doing looks wrong. It’s not like he’s sticking his head up in the air and winging it with his eyes closed. He’s fighting well, he looks good,” adds Rogan.

Despite Tyson’s age, he credits Paul for wanting this fight.

“The fact that he is willing to fight Tyson, even though Tyson is 57, just the fact that he’s willing to take a chance at Mike Tyson not being able to do what he used to do. Because that’s what he’s doing. The gamble is, there’s not a fucking chance in hell that Jake Paul would survive against the Mike Tyson that beat Marvis Frazier.”

“That Mike Tyson… those fights were… you wanted to see executions. You didn’t think anybody was going to beat him. Everybody he fought looked like they were about to die when they were in that ring.”

“He’ll have turned 58 by the time they actually fight,” adds Rogan. “He’s still not normal but he’s still like a professional heavyweight boxer. He’s still terrifying.”

Joe Rogan revealed Tyson is in ‘God of war mode’ and eating raw meat in preparation for the boxing showdown.

“He goes, ‘I just eat raw meat. I’m eating raw meat.’ He goes, ‘You’re eating raw meat?’ He goes, ‘Yeah, I’m eating raw meat.’ He goes, ‘Because that’s what I’m going to eat when I fight. I’m going to eat him, just raw meat.’ Jesus Christ, he’s in this fucking mode. He’s in that God of war mode.”

“Bro, he’s in savage mode. If I was Jake Paul right now I would be shitting my pants.”

Although Tyson’s skills are a fry cry of what they once were, Rogan believes his experience in the ring could be apparent when they square up.

“It’s all the experiences that he has had as a conqueror. You have to take those into consideration. When a man has smashed men before, just smashed men, like when no one could stand in front of him, that is in his mind still. That’s in there.”

Rogan complimented Paul on pursuing the fight with Tyson, adding that he will be entertaining a massive audience.

“I’m going to watch the fight. We are all going to watch the fight. I’m going to watch it. It’s a brilliant move by Jake because if he was going to fight anybody else people would watch but would the same amount of people watch? No. This is the one.

This is the one where the old heads are sitting around and going ‘Wait until he gets a hold of Mike Tyson, boy is he going to regret that.’ All the old guys are pulling for him, ‘Come on Mike, come on Mike, one more, you got one more in you!'”

Some fans of Tyson were surprised by his decision to re-enter the ring as a boxer. In 2022, Tyson mentioned that his ‘expiration date’ was coming ‘real soon’ and underscored that money no longer fueled his daily motivations.

With Netflix set to host this boxing extravaganza, fans are excited to see how the battle between Paul and Tyson will end. Thankfully, on July 20, all questions will be answered when these two titans step into the ring.
