Larry Wheels feeds off of smashing records, especially his own. The multi-talented powerlifter recently accepted a bench press challenge from Hafthor Björnsson on Instagram and bench pressed 440lbs (200kg) for a blistering 23-reps — 3-more reps than the challenge Bjornsson initially laid out.
Wheels remains a huge player in the ever-changing powerlifting landscape. Part of what makes Larry Wheels such an impressive specimen is his willingness to attack challenges head-on. The powerlifter has long made his mark in strength sports. Wheels managed to expand his repertoire by trying different sports.
Larry Wheels is a multi-talented athlete and likes to remain busy even in the offseason. Not only does Wheels powerlifting and bodybuilding, but the thriving athlete is also known to wet his beak in arm-wrestling competitions. Wheels took to the new sport quickly and already had two sanctioned arm-wrestling matches.
The bodybuilder lost both contests with his most recent defeat coming from Brendon Allen. Despite the sport being relatively unknown, it’s certainly a useful tool to utilize if any bodybuilder is seeking additional grip strength.
Larry Wheels One-Ups Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson’s Bench Press Challenge
Larry Wheels is a known record-breaker. The strength athlete is keen on conquering challenges, especially during training sessions. Just days ago, the renowned powerlifter posted on social media. The video saw Wheels power through some tough bench presses but “The Mountain” from Game Of Thrones set the bar even higher after challenging Wheels on social media to hit 20-reps pushing 440lbs (200kg).
Hafthor Julius Björnsson is a record-breaker himself. During his dominant reign in strongman sports, Björnsson secured the heaviest deadlift ever recorded in history at Thor’s Power Gym in Kopavogur, Iceland. At the time, the epic record saw Hafthor Björnsson deadlift 501kg (1104.5lbs) in May 2020.

After Larry Wheels shared the video and smashed Björnsson’s expectations, the famous actor and soon-to-be strongman-turned-boxer gave the powerlifter praise.
Björnsson and Larry Wheels are friends and have trained together in the past. The pair of athletes live to break records. Despite Larry Wheels coming up short in arm-wrestling matches, rest assured, the powerlifter is always looking to one-up someone and usually that’s himself.

After recently scoring a PR bench press with 308lbs for a jaw-dropping 44-reps, Wheels is seemingly still improving. Larry Wheels is a force in the powerlifting community. After accepting Björnsson’s challenge and firing off 23-reps of 440lbs/200kg it’s clear when there’s a challenge on the table, Wheels rises to the occasion.
This guy is Amazing.
Strong for sure. Larry crushes every lift he tries. He punches above his weight. But, I recently saw a video of Larry doing a chest workout with Morgan Aste. Morgan is another strong dude, you can find videos of him bench pressing 200kg for 18 reps. In their tandem workout, Morgan crushed Larry on whatever they did. So, somehow, this doesn’t square with that.
