The excitement was real when 7x Mr. Olympia Phil Heath announced that he’ll be returning to the Olympia stage just a few weeks ago. Heath missed the 2019 Olympia after losing his title the year prior but he’s ready to come back, and with a vengeance.

It’s much too early to predict anything but if he wins in 2020, he’ll tie Lee Haney and Ronnie Coleman for a record eight Sandows. And that is why his return is so important for the sport. Plus, he’s not getting any younger, at 40 years old (although not that old in bodybuilding years), and with the uncertainty, we’re experiencing right now, it makes sense to compete while he has the opportunity to do so.
Heath shared some clips from one of his recent training sessions and he’s looking absolutely massive right now. Although, there’s never really a time that he doesn’t look massive, hence his nickname, “The Gift”. He also shared some words of inspiration to accompany his Instagram post.

While we’re still not sure about how travel restrictions may affect certain competitors from participating at the 2020 Olympia, the fact that Heath is coming back will no doubt force whoever shows up on that stage to step up their game this year. He’ll be challenging the current champion, Brandon Curry, among many others, in an effort to take back the trophy and we’re more than excited about it.

But, of course, we’ll be sure to keep you updated leading up to the competition that’s scheduled for December, especially with all that’s going on currently.
