The world of bodybuilding has seen many great comebacks. Be it Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s unexpected comeback in Mr. Olympia in 1980 or Jay Cutler’s much-anticipated comeback in 2009. Quite recently, Jay Cutler, also known as ‘The Comeback Kid,’ sat down with his manager and partner Tim, and IFBB Pro Milos Sarcev for an episode of ‘Cutler Cast’. During the podcast, amidst many other topics, the trio discussed the potential comebacks for many athletes, including Big Ramy, Brandon Curry, and Phil Heath.
Despite the intense rivalry they shared on stage during the late 2000s, Cutler and Heath have a longstanding bond. They recently got together for dinner to celebrate Jay’s 50th birthday. Phil also wrote a heartfelt message for Cutler while wishing him a happy birthday on his Instagram account.
Jay Cutler believes Heath still has that ‘gas’ left in him
7-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath has been on a hiatus from bodybuilding shows since 2020 when he came third at Mr. Olympia 2020. The point worth noting is that Heath is injury free and has not officially retired from the sport. His old friend, Jay Cutler, has been pushing him to return to the stage for a while now. During the podcast, Cutler openly shared that during a recent dinner with Heath, he playfully nudged him about making a comeback to competitive bodybuilding.
“I told Phil, we had dinner, and I said dude like, “You’re almost untouchable throughout your reign in my opinion and how it would take us just a little bit man,” and he said, “If you comeback, I’ll comeback.”

Heath put forward a condition for his potential comeback: he would return to the stage only if Cutler agreed to make a comeback as well. But Cutler quickly dismissed the idea of participating in a bodybuilding show at this point. Cutler continued by smiling at Tim while claiming that Heath might return to the bodybuilding sphere. At this point, Serbian bodybuilding veteran Milos Sarcev suspected that Heath’s return must be “a done deal.”
Denying this, Cutler stated:
“I’m gonna pick at him a little bit, I’m gonna be like Phil Phil…he still has all the…you know he’s injury free.”
