Muscle growth is on the menu for Regan Grimes, who continues to inch toward his return to the stage. In a recent YouTube video shared on November 10, 2024, Regan Grimes walked fans through his latest leg day training routine.
“I’m feeling stronger. Food is going in the best it ever has. I’m not missing a meal. I’m not skipping a beat. I still don’t have cardio in the morning which is something that I feel like would be good to incorporate just because it gets my day rolling.”
Regan Grimes has become a potent force in the IFBB Pro League. He boasts Classic lines but holds on to the mass needed to make waves in the Men’s Open class. In 2022, he displayed dramatic improvements to nail down a pair of seventh-place finishes at the Arnold Classic and Boston Pro show.
He also enjoyed an incredible 2023 season, which began with a runner-up performance against Nathan De Asha at the Flex Weekend Italy Pro show. He avenged the defeat against De Asha, winning gold at the 2023 Europa Pro, a promising sign of what was to come.

Regan Grimes’ Leg Day Workout
- Bike Warm-Up (5 minutes)
- Hip Adduction Machine
- Leg Extension Machine
- Hip Press Machine
- Hack Squat Machine
- Lying Leg Curl
Hip adduction machine
Kicking off his leg workout, Grimes used the hip adduction machine to get his body warmed up, pushing blood into his legs.
“Starting off this leg workout with the abductor machine, this is just to give the knee a little bit of tracking and just also get some blood in that area so when we start my next exercise, it’s just a little bit more blood in the area and you’re just more warmed up,” says Grimes.
Leg extension machine
Next, Grimes moved to leg extensions to work the middle of his quads as he aims to widen them in the coming weeks.
“The big focus for me is I want to work this part here [mid quad]. Right there, if I can pop that up more, everything will spread and get bigger. So that’s my focus right now.”
Hip Press machine
Regan Grimes emphasized while using the hip press machine that his first few sets were feelers, and he slowly increased the weight as he got into it.
“This is the pendulum hip thrust. It smashes the quads, no knee pain. It was really great. I got up to… did like two plates for a warm-up set, then went to four plates, went to five plates. Those are all like feeler sets, getting into it, not going to failure.”
Hack Squat Machine
After going back for more leg extensions, Grimes continued with hack squats, revealing that he set a new PR.
“I hit some PRs on the hip press and on the hack squat, five plates, was moving great. We ended up doing a pull-off set on the hack squat. But it was perfect, I was able to just continue pushing and go right to failure.”
Lying Leg Curl
Grimes topped off his leg workout with lying leg curls for an optimal pump. Then, he summarized his latest pre-workout meal.
- 150 Grams Cream of Rice
- 150 Grams Banana
- 20 Grams Almond Butter
“Today, cream of rice, pre-workout, 150 grams cream of rice, it’s a lot. It’s a big fucking bowl. 150 grams of banana, it’s like a banana and a half and 20 grams of almond butter. It’s a really good combination.”
Additionally, Grimes shared a physique update, tipping the scales at 300 pounds in the off-season.
Regan Grimes will aim to make a statement in his return to the stage. Weighing over 300 pounds, Grimes’ unique combination of size and aesthetics could spell trouble for Open Pros during the next bodybuilding season.
Judging by his latest leg day workout, strength is at an all-time high for the Canadian Pro. Should he announce his next bodybuilding show, Fitness Volt will keep you updated.
