It looks like Rich Gaspari isn’t skipping leg day in retirement. On April 2, 2025, he showed off his shredded quads at 61 years old in a show of longevity.
Rich Gaspari is a bodybuilding star from the tail-end of the Golden Era. While he never claimed a Mr. Olympia title, he was revered for his conditioning levels, especially his striated glutes, an attribute he standardized in the sport. For much of his career, he went toe-to-toe against bodybuilding legend and eight-time Olympia champion Lee Haney.
Gaspari picked up gold at the first Arnold Classic event in 1989. His passion for the sport is on constant display, whether he’s sharing his take on the Men’s Open landscape or giving his opinion on performance-enhancing drug use, he serves the bodybuilding community.
He’s never made excuses in retirement when it comes to his physique. Gaspari maintains a low body fat percentage year-round, evident by his ripped six-pack of abs. While legs can be hard to maintain as we get older, Gaspari is showing that with proper dieting and intense training, it’s certainly possible.

Bodybuilding Veteran Rich Gaspari Boasts Shredded Quads at 61 in Retirement
Below, you can check out his recent Instagram post where he showed off his impressive leg development:
“wanted to see what my legs look like. Still got some cuts in those old legs,” Gaspari shared via social media.
Gaspari has made it a point to stay in incredible shape since stepping away from the sport. He recently joined bodybuilding star Lee Labrada for an ‘ultimate’ back day workout, where the pair focused on time under tension and slow and controlled repetitions to force growth.
“Great catching a workout together,” shared Lee Labrada. “You’re still driven. This guy never stops. He’s relentless. He’s always driven. I love it.”
The sport has seen a sudden rise in deaths over the past few years. The age ranges have varied, too. Of late, Katie Donnell, a 28-year-old Florida teacher known as the ‘Workout Queen’, passed away. Her mother has since warned that her death came as a result of consuming energy drinks. Meanwhile, Golden Era bodybuilder Pat Neve died at 78, with no cause of death released to the public.
Gaspari’s update shows that longevity is still alive and well in bodybuilding. He continues to serve as a top ambassador for the sport, encouraging safe and healthy practices.
