Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson isn’t letting his lack of time wreck his nutrition goals. In a September 9 Instagram post, he broke down his on-the-go post-workout meal and discussed his 50-pound weight loss transformation.
Over the years, The Rock’s popularity has only grown. He quickly gained fame thanks to his decorated pro wrestling career, which mostly took place in the WWE/WWF. Beyond the ring, he’s made a huge mark in the entertainment industry.
The Rock has appeared in several blockbuster films, including Black Adam and his recently acclaimed hit The Smashing Machine. With his next movie project on the horizon, Johnson opened up about his weight loss and how he refuels after tough workouts.
The Rock’s Post-Workout Meal While Traveling & Thoughts on His Weight Loss
Find the ingredients below:
- 75g protein powder
- 1 cup blueberries
- Ice
- Stevia
- 125g of carbs cooked jasmine rice
“Post workout meal since I’m always on the go and don’t have time to sit down and eat.”
The Rock shared that he eats this meal 30-45 minutes after training. He opened up about dropping 50 pounds for his role in Lizard Music, and revealed his current weight is 232-235 pounds.
“Lots of great questions about my current training split, diet, cardio + conditioning. My current weight is 232-235lbs and holding conditioning very nicely. I took a full year to drop 50lbs for my current role I’m shooting now (Benny Safdie’s “Lizard Music”).”
Additionally, the 54-year-old explained that he consumes high carbs when he trains legs twice a week. Otherwise, The Rock sticks with around 250-300 grams of carbs to fuel his other workouts.
“Wanted to be strategic and wise about the weight cut and not implement anything extreme. My high carb days (approx 450grams carbs) fall on my 2 leg days + Sun and my low/medium carb days (250-300g) fill out the rest of the week.”
Despite the drop in weight, Johnson said his strength, endurance, and pumps are all holding strong:
“Feel phenomenal at this weight, strength, endurance, pumps with training are all fantastic- cardiovascular is excellent and holding conditioning nice and tight. Of course my muscle fullness fluctuates through the week with lower carb days, but nothing a few pre workout rice cakes, honey and pinch of salt can’t fix 😋 💪🏾,” The Rock shared.
Fans online had their own opinions about Johnson’s downsized physique transformation. Some deemed his decision smart given his age, while others suggested that The Rock finally decided to quit using performance-enhancing drugs. He responded to these allegations, calling them ‘100% not true.’
The Rock wants a leaner look the next time he steps on set. While he weighs lighter than before, he hasn’t let his post-workout nutrition slide.
