2009 African Junior Weightlifting Championships

The 2009 African Junior Weightlifting Championships began on 31 July 2009, with 70 lifters in 15 classes. The 2009 African Youth Championships were decided within this competition, which was itself decided within the 2009 African Championships. The lifts counted for all three, with places ranked within each field. Gold went to Khiredine Ziane (56 kg, 209 kg), Mohamed Ihab (62 kg, 275 kg), Jean Baptiste Yanou Ketchanke (69 kg, 271 kg), Ragab Abdelhay Saad A. Abdalla (77 kg, 323 kg), Ali Elkekli (85 kg, 325 kg), Jean Greeff (94 kg, 300 kg), Omar Halalmia (105 kg, 281 kg) and Abdelrahman El-Sayed (+105 kg, 365 kg) for the men, and Katsia Thelemaque (48 kg, 136 kg), Adonis Sinazo (53 kg, 121 kg), Nourhene May (58 kg, 171 kg), Matshidiso Hazel Masiu (63 kg, 144 kg), Marie Fegue (69 kg, 170 kg), Madias Ngake (75 kg, 202 kg) and Marwa Jlassi (+75 kg, 194 kg) for the women.
