Nobody’s position is safe at the 2025 Mr. Olympia, according to Martin Fitzwater. In a recent video shared on Sept. 22, he discussed his confidence heading into the event and emphasized that anyone can be defeated onstage.
Fitzwater’s breakout performance came at the 2024 Mr. Olympia. He finished fourth in his debut, but for a moment, spectators thought he might surpass Derek Lunsford on the scorecards. He opted to compete a few weeks later at the Prague Pro and was afforded a rare opportunity.
“The Martian” stood against reigning six-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead. Ultimately, Fitzwater secured gold, which caused his stock to skyrocket. However, in his last outing, he missed his peak at the Pittsburgh Pro and fell behind Nick Walker and Derek Lunsford in third place.

“I’ve trained my abs hard since Pittsburgh, and it’s definitely helping my shape. Right now, all I need to focus on is getting my waist smaller and my arms bigger.”
After Pittsburgh, he decided to unfollow all bodybuilding social media accounts to preserve his focus.
“We’re not going to change much [from my current look]. Like I said, we’ve been collecting data. Like you said, I’ve been so quiet, bro. I literally have just been over here, just writing every check mark down, and honestly, man, I haven’t followed a bodybuilding page since Pittsburgh. I’m not going to lie. I unfollowed every single one of them. I don’t know what a single person’s prediction is, and I don’t care.”
He doesn’t see anyone as unbeatable, and pointed out that he held his own against Nick Walker and Derek Lunsford despite not bringing his best.
“I don’t see a single one of those people that are in front of me that I can’t beat. It’s just a matter of nailing it on that day. The thing is — I really shit the bed at Pittsburgh and I still stood next to Nick and Derek and looked good in shots,” Martin Fitzwater said.
Fitzwater called himself a future titleholder and said no one is unbeatable at the Mr. Olympia:
“When I nail it… I’m going to be dangerous man. I don’t know where I’ll fall but I do think that I’m a potential titleholder and I do think that no one is right now Phil Heath. There’s nobody that can’t be beat.”
Discussions about who will leave the 61st Mr. Olympia with gold have taken over the bodybuilding world. Neil Hill, who coaches Classic Physique’s Mike Sommerfeld, revealed his top four picks — he sees Walker, Lunsford, Hadi Choopan, and Dauda as possible winners.
Fitzwater is keeping his head down in the lead-up to the event. Don’t miss the 2025 Mr. Olympia, set for Oct. 9-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
