It’s officially peak week for the 2025 Mr. Olympia, and bodybuilders are putting the final touches on their physiques. Days from the event, on October 3, Lee Haney revealed his top six picks in the Open Bodybuilding division.
For the past three years, the Sandow trophy has switched hands: first, Hadi Choopan claimed the title in 2022, then his teammate, Derek Lunsford, took it from him in 2023. And last year, Samson Dauda finally nailed the perfect peak—blending mass with dry condition to become the 19th athlete to win the prestigious title.
It’s been a tumultuous 2025 bodybuilding season. Although Dauda entered the Arnold Classic as the reigning Mr. Olympia, Lunsford exacted his revenge and put forth a much-improved package. They will battle it out once again, but the roster is teeming with other big-name bodybuilders seeking statement performances.
Choopan hasn’t competed since last year’s Olympia, leaving question marks about his fullness and conditioning levels. Nick Walker, meanwhile, missed the previous two Olympias, once due to injury and again because his body stopped responding to prep. Andrew Jacked is always in the vicinity of gold, too; he stamped his right to compete after dominating the FIBO Championships.

These are just the on-paper frontrunners—there’s a group of wildcards set to shake the stage as well. Behrooz Tabani was finally granted his US visa and will compete, sparking curiosity about how he’ll stack up in his first North American contest. Other looming threats like Brett Wilkin, Rubiel “Mosquera” Neckzilla, Urs Kalecinski, and Ugolnikov “Good Vito” Vitalii could rearrange the final standings when all is said and done.

Picks and predictions for the 2025 Mr. Olympia have taken over the bodybuilding community. Former eight-time Olympia kingpin Ronnie Coleman joined in on the action. His picks were bold — he believes Choopan will earn back the title and argued Dauda would drop all the way down to fourth place, with Walker and Lunsford outscoring him.
