The 2026 Classic Physique Olympia lineup just lost an elite contender. In a September 3 post, Michael Daboul confirmed his withdrawal from the 2026 Olympia despite qualifying through the point system.

Daboul has stood out in the Classic Physique division for years. His extreme conditioning levels have helped him thrive in the IFBB Pro League, leading to a handful of impressive performances. In 2025, the surging talent finished eighth at the prestigious Mr. Olympia contest. He bounced back quickly, earning bronze at the stacked Prague Pro

Daboul carried real momentum into this year’s season. He went international, dominating the 2026 Huanji China Pro for gold. After that, he claimed a third-place finish at the Austrian Oak Pro. Despite earning his Olympia passage through points, the Classic Physique star came to terms with the tough decision over the past few days.

“Even though I am qualified through points, I’ve decided to take off the rest of the year and take some time to improve, grow, and come back better than ever. This has honestly been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life. The Olympia is a dream. Standing on that stage is something I’ve dreamed about for years, and choosing not to compete this year was extremely difficult for me.”

He explained that he intends to use the time away from the stage to improve his weaknesses, with plans to return stronger in 2027.

“After being away from the stage for 10 months, this comeback was emotional and a challenging one. I’m proud of the package I brought, but I also know there is still a lot of work to be done. Sometimes taking a step back is exactly what you need to take two steps forward.”

“I’m going to use this time to work harder, improve every weakness, and come back with a better physique, a better package, and a stronger mindset. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through the good times and the difficult ones. Your support means more to me than you know. I’ll see you on that 2027 Olympia stage,” Michael Daboul shared

This hasn’t been the only Olympia withdrawal to shake up the bodybuilding community. Former 2022 Olympia champion Hadi Choopan recently pulled out of the contest. He explained that visa and travel issues prevented him from mounting an effective prep.

Despite these notable absences, the show must go on. The 2026 Mr. Olympia is set for September 24-27 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Stay tuned to Fitness Volt for comprehensive previews and live results coverage.
