Irvin Koszewski (Zabo)
Irvin Koszewski, known throughout his competitive life as Zabo, was one of the figures of the Muscle Beach era. Born in 1924, he competed from 1950 to 1967 and has twenty-eight results on record, all of them amateur.
Known for
The California titles. He won Mr Middle Atlantic in 1950, then Mr Pacific Coast and Mr Los Angeles in 1953 and Mr California in 1954. He also took two Most Muscular awards in 1954, which is the award that fits what he was known for.
Early career
His first recorded contest was in 1950, in the junior class, and he was winning open titles inside the same year. He was runner-up at Mr Strength and Health in 1951 and at Mr Southern California in 1953. He was still competing in 1967, in the medium class, seventeen years after the record opens.
