‘The Godfather of Bodybuilding’ Charles Glass has the tips you need to kick your leg day up a notch. In a recent Instagram post shared on September 13, 2024, Glass explained why elevating squats using a weight plate can lead to better activation and form.

“Charles Glass Technique: Elevate Your Squats with Plates Under Your Feet for Maximum Activation and Improved Form.”

Considering he has trained some of the best bodybuilders in the industry, including Shawn Rhoden, Chris Cormier, and Flex Wheeler, Charles Glass has earned a reputation for providing quality workout tips backed by years of hands-on experience. Glass’ knowledge extends beyond just the bodybuilding community, having worked with celebrities, such as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Hulk Hogan, guiding them as they prepare for their next big performance.

Whether it is demonstrating how to use the leg press machine properly or explaining why the decline press is the only exercise you need on chest day, Glass provides a wide array of advice to help individuals achieve their fitness goals.

In his latest offering, Charles Glass revealed why he prefers heel-elevated squats, sharing that it helps with better activation and form. However, when asked if he always does so, he explained that it all comes down to whether the Achilles tendon is stretched properly.

“It just depends on your Achilles tendon. If your Achilles tendon is stretched, you don’t need it. But if you ever noticed, powerlifters always have a heel, that’s the heel” Glass explained.

When it comes to making gains in the gym, Charles Glass has got you covered. To make things simple for fans, he shared that beef is the best protein source for building muscle, while also revealing that there isn’t one ultimate exercise. However, if he had to pick, he’d choose the rowing machine.

“When you do seated rows, you start pushing with your legs, you’re not doing the seated row right.

See, you can do it because it’s going to hit your legs, it’s going to hit your lower back, it’s going to hit your back, it’s going to hit your biceps, and as you extend out it’s going to hit the triceps, but it won’t affect the chest.”

“If you had to pick an exercise like you said, seated rowing would probably be the closest to the one you need for the rest of your life.”

Considering the lineup of outstanding athletes Charles Glass has trained, it is clear his workout methods are successful. Next time you hit the gym, give plate-elevated squats a try to ensure you achieve maximum activation as well as better form.
