Bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler‘s secret to staying in such great shape at 51 begins in the kitchen. In a recent YouTube video on September 16, 2024, Cutler broke down his Sunday morning breakfast while also sharing a ‘trick of the trade’ with his fans.
At only 18 years old, Cutler was a diamond in the rough, having already attracted significant attention in the sport. Under the dieting guidance of bodybuilding coach Chris Aceto, Cutler turned himself into a formidable mass monster.
Cutler regularly competed in the Open class throughout the 1990s and 2000s. He took second place on the Mr. Olympia stage several times to his arch-rival Ronnie Coleman. In 2006, Cutler achieved the unthinkable — he dethroned ‘The King’ in a stunning upset, solidifying his name among the best in the world.
The sky was the limit for Cutler, who defended his title successfully before dropping it to Dexter Jackson in 2008. Without this defeat, the world would have never discovered how truly gifted Cutler was.

Adopting training principles he learned from Coleman, Cutler out-performed his peers to win back the Mr. Olympia title in 2009. However, to achieve the stunning separation in his quads and hamstrings, Cutler maintained a rigorous workout routine while also adhering to a strict diet.
Bodybuilding Legend Jay Cutler Shares Treat Day High-Protein Breakfast ‘Specialty’
Now that he is retired, Cutler still keeps his diet relatively clean, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t indulge now and then. In a recent YouTube video, Cutler walked his fans through what he was having to eat on a Sunday morning, revealing he had a specialty on the menu that day.
Cutler’s Sunday Breakfast
- Homemade Protein Pancakes Sprinkled with Glutamine, Sugar-Free Syrup, and Sugar-Free Whipped Cream (2 Scoops Cutler Nutrition Cake Batter Protein Powder, Blueberries, One Egg, Vanilla, Milk, Honey)
- 2 Overeasy Eggs
- 2 Hashbrowns
- 1 Turkey Patty
- Bacon
- Jay’s Shake (Strawberries, 1 1/2 cups Protein Powder)
Cutler’s breakfast is more decadent than usual, consisting of air-fried bacon and homemade protein pancakes. If that wasn’t enough, Jay Cutler also shared that he planned to add a specialty, letting his fans in on a ‘trick of the trade.’
“Sunday morning and we are in the kitchen once again and I wanted to talk about what’s on the menu today. Air fryer, crispy bacon, pancakes. So we had a little specialty today, so let’s see what we got going on. We are going to show you guys a little trick of the trade here.”
Of course, in true Jay Cutler fashion, a special treat is actually sprinkling glutamine on his pancakes instead of powdered sugar, making it healthier and more delicious, according to him.
“We do utilize Glutamine, like I said, that’s a great topper and it acts kinda like a powdered sugar, I think it taste pretty good, and I’m already drinking my shake. What I have in this is strawberries, I have strawberries and I have one and half scoops of protein” Cutler shared.
Not only has Jay Cutler maintained his bodybuilding diet, he has also kept his physique in stage-ready condition. Last year, Cutler announced that he intended to take on his fit-for-50 challenge, hoping to achieve tighter skin and fuller muscles.
After unveiling his incredible transformation while guest posing at the 2023 MuscleContest FitExpo, Cutler was so happy with the results that he decided to do it again. This year, he took on his fit-for-51 challenge, with new goals of getting even tighter and leaner. Of course, Cutler knocked it out of the park, revealing his best physique yet on his 51st birthday.
Between his strenuous diet and exercise regimens, Jay Cutler continues to defy time. With years of experience as a professional bodybuilder, his tips remain coveted in the fitness industry, and thankfully he keeps them coming on a regular basis.
