Despite having yet to earn his Olympia qualification, Nick Walker remains a top pick for many big names in the bodybuilding community, including Jay Cutler. In a recent YouTube video, Cutler opened up on ‘The Mutant’s’ chances of success at 2024 Olympia and discussed Derek Lunsford’s training intensity.
At the 2023 Mr. Olympia contest, fans could hear a pin drop given how close the competition was. In the end, Derek Lunsford’s bulletproof back shots led to his massive win, cementing him as the sport’s first two-division Mr. Olympia.
Meanwhile, Nick Walker was forced to watch his rival take home the sport’s greatest honor after he suffered injuries to his calf and hamstring. Initially, Walker planned to sit out for a special invite to Olympia, but later had a change of heart. Setting his sights on the 2024 New York Pro, Walker intends to make a statement. Assuming he does qualify for Olympia, Jay Cutler suggests he’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
Jay Cutler Says Nick Walker To ‘Stir It Up’ on 2024 Mr. Olympia Stage, Suggests He’ll ‘Possibly Win It This Year’
Even with the improvements made by Derek Lunsford as of late, Jay Cutler believes Nick Walker will possibly win the 2024 Mr. Olympia.

“I mean Nick Walker is looking really good… I got to see his family. His mom Tracy and his father at the event. We have high hopes for him man. I think he can come in the Olympia and stir it up and possibly win it this year”
Cutler adds that Lunsford is training like a maniac as he prepares for his first title defense. He is also looking forward to seeing Hadi Choopan back on stage after the former Mr. Olympia claimed gold at the recent 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK shows.
“That’s what’s kind of cool about this Olympia with Hadi coming back the way he did and Derek… you know… just training like a maniac where he is. Derek is staying in tremendous shape and when we see in May when they guest pose in Pittsburgh, that’s going to build some hype for the Mr. Olympia in October. I don’t know [if I’m going to Pittsburgh]. It’s the second week of May. No, I can’t bro,” shares Cutler.
Jay Cutler can see parts of himself in Nick Walker given their respective physiques. Recently, the former four-time Mr. Olympia underlined that he and Walker managed to overcome ‘subpar’ genetics throughout their bodybuilding careers. Cutler could also relate to Walker’s intensity and mentality in the sport.
Walker has kept fans up to date on his goals and aspirations as an Open Pro. Before he sails off into the sunset, Walker hopes to ‘realistically’ win five Mr. Olympia titles and four Arnold Classics. However with Derek Lunsford aiming for a next-level physique and Hadi Choopan at his all-time best, ‘The Mutant’ has his work cut out for him.
But first, before Nick Walker tests himself against the best, he must win his next show — the 2024 New York Pro taking place on May 18. If he pulls off the victory, Walker will ride considerable momentum into the annual Mr. Olympia show.
