The 2020 World’s Strongest Man is just around the corner. Robert Oberst is hard at work to prepare for the contest, and he recently shared an update on how things are coming along with his training as the event approaches.
Over the years, Oberst has become one of the biggest fan favorites in the sport of strongman. He is regularly being seen with the likes of Brian Shaw, doing all sorts of crazy challenges and genuinely seeming to have a good time. Even if he is poking fun at some other athletes, it is hard for anyone to stay mad at him because he seems like a genuine person that fans connect with and appreciate.
The last several months have seen a lot of the best strongman athletes losing a ton of weight, from Brian Shaw starting to live a healthier lifestyle, to Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall dropping pounds for their boxing match with each other. However as Robert Oberst prepares for the 2020 World’s Strongest Man, he is bulking up for the contest. Weighing in at just under 420lb, Rob took to Instagram to show how he was looking, while explaining that he has been doing cardio every day for weeks.
“Just under 420 pounds! Doing cardio 4 days a week, but I guess I was just built to be a monster. Worlds Strongest Man is getting closer and closer and I’ll be in the best shape of my life. Time to show the world The American Monster!! 💪🇺🇸

This is certainly some good progress, and Oberst appears to be super motivated. Although he does seem a bit proud to be the American Monster, he also seems to be living heathier nowadays. However he is still preparing for the 2020 World’s Strongest Man, so there is a certain amount of mass he has to hold on to, in order to optimally perform at this contest.
It is good to see that Robert Oberst has been making this type of progress while getting prepared for the contest. Perhaps after the 2020 World’s Strongest Man, or once he retires, he will make some changes to his diet to help lose weight from those 4 cardio sessions a week. Nevertheless he looks good so far, and his progress moving forward will be great to watch.
