Samson Dauda is living up to his mass monster moniker with one of the biggest builds in the IFBB Pro League. In a recent YouTube video, ‘The Nigerian Lion’ showcased an intense arms training session 12 weeks from taking the stage at the 2024 Mr. Olympia.
Since he emerged as an IFBB Pro, many have predicted big things from Samson Dauda. His ability to pose alongside his mass and conditioning have set him apart from his rivals. In his last two contests, Dauda impressed the masses in second place at the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK contest against Hadi Choopan.
He decided to part ways with his long-time coach Milos Sarcev this season. While the decision was difficult to make, Dauda thought it would be best to train in Kuwait at the famous Oxygen Gyms location, which has seen notable talents arise from the haven, including Brandon Curry and Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay.

Dauda’s Arm Workout
- Superset: Machine Preacher Curl & Cable Triceps Push Down
- Superset: Seated Dip Machine & Single-Arm Dumbbell Hammer Preach Curl
- Superset: Nautilus One-Arm Bicep Curl Machine & Seated Overhead Cable Triceps Extensions
Superset: Machine Preacher Curl & Cable Triceps Push Down
Kicking things off, Samson Dauda discussed why he chooses to superset biceps and triceps during every arm workout.
“Our first workout here is a superset between preacher curls and standing cable pushdowns. Nice and simple man. I always start my workouts especially when it comes to arms, I always superset biceps and triceps at the same time with each workout that I do.”
He starts training light with warm-up sets before progressing to more intense working sets.
“I start off nice and light, especially when starting off the first workout, the first two or three sets I just warm up. Get my elbows literally warmed up and getting blood into the muscle before I come for my working sets.”
“More fluid into the muscle and get that joint not feeling so stiff. After that, I start counting my sets from there.”
Superset: Seated Dip Machine & Single-Arm Dumbbell Hammer Preacher Curl
For his next superset, Dauda hits seated dips with single-arm dumbbell hammer preacher curls. He credits the dip machine as one of his favorites.
“Our second workout today, we have the dips one of my favorite machines. I love it for triceps. Mainly starting nice and light but with each set, it gets heavier and heavier. With the dips, you make sure you lock down the bottom of the movement and you squeeze as hard as you can.”
“And that’s not just to build the thicker head of the tricep but also the outer head of the tricep. Trying to make sure you get that other head right there, getting nice and deep, especially when you’re popping and locking out.”
“It brings out the striations,” said Dauda. “Dips is one of the movements that is mandatory.”
During the preacher curls, Dauda uses his weight to offset the force of the machine.
“I use my weight as a counterbalance for the swing of the movement [dumbbell hammer strength curls]. With hammer strength ones, what I try to target mainly is the little head of the bicep, the muscle in between the tricep and bicep. That middle.”
Superset: Nautilus One-Arm Bicep Curl Machine & Seated Overhead Cable Triceps Extensions
Next, Dauda moves to the one-arm bicep curl machine, though struggles to get into position due to his monstrous size.
“This machine, even though I barely fit in it and it’s uncomfortable as hell but the way it makes you contract the biceps in a more tightened position so with a normal machine you have the contraction over here but with this machine, you’re able to contract here and get more of a thicker bicep peak.”
Dauda loves utilizing seated overhead cable extensions as an effective finisher.
“The movement is so spot-on that I got to take that compromise. I just make sure that I make it count. Then, we are supersetting that with our last tricep exercise which is the tricep behind-the-head extensions that’s sitting down.”
“I do love that machine. I love that for a finisher.”
Samson Dauda will have to get through Mr. Olympia champion Derek Lunsford, as well as Hadi Choopan and Nick Walker at the nearing blockbuster event. Time will tell if his coaching change pays dividends but it’s clear he’s leaving nothing to chance given the intensity of his workouts.
Don’t miss the 2024 Mr. Olympia contest taking place October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada in celebration of the organization’s 60th anniversary. Should Dauda pull off an unprecedented level of conditioning, he could find himself contending for gold against the best in the world.
