In recent months, Sherine Marcelle has astonished the powerlifting world with her remarkable feats of strength. Some of which include a 315-pound x 20 rep squat set, and a massive 620-pound squat triple. As a result of all these heavy efforts and her hard work in training, Sherine Marcelle achieved a huge Squat PR of 655 pounds (297.1 kilograms). Sherine happily shared her newest achievement with her fans through Instagram.

Sherine Marcelle’s 655-pound (297.1-kilogram) lift is also an Unofficial All-Time Squat W/Wraps World Record in the 198-pound (90-kilogram) weight class. The current record in this weight class is 640 pounds (290.3 kilograms), which Crystal Tate set at the 2017 XPC Finals. So Sherine unofficially surpassed the record by 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms).

Sherine Marcelle used a lifting belt, and knee wraps to aid her in the lift, so it is not raw by powerlifting standards, as it is classified in the Wraps category. Unfortunately, Sherine won’t be trying to make this an official record anytime soon, as she does not plan on performing a squat with wraps in a sanctioned competition this year. However, she will continue training for it, so when it is time to compete, Sherine will annihilate the record.

You can watch the lift here:

“I fought through injuries and a lot more and life took a turn for the best. Last time I had 650lbs on my back, I partially tore my quad and today I came out injury free.

I will continue to perfect my craft so once I do next year, whenever that may be I will have zero injuries.

The next time I place this on my back it will be faster, it will be better.”

When Sherine Marcelle says that the 655-pound (297.1-kilogram) squat is her “lifetime PR”, it means that she has never squatted more weight, whether it is in a competition or training. Although training PRs give some insight into an athlete’s strength, the competition PRs are what counts the most.

Sherine Marcelle’s Competition PRs:

  • Squat (w/wraps): 280 kg (617.3 lbs) — All-Time Second-Heaviest — (2022 WRPF Ghost Clash)
  • Bench Press (Raw): 127.5 kg (280 lbs) — (2021 USPA New York State Championships)
  • Deadlift (Raw): 227.5 kg (501.6 lbs) — (2021 USPA New York State Championships)
  • Total (Raw w/wraps): 620 kg (1366.9 lbs) — (2022 WRPF Ghost Clash)

Despite her efforts, it seems that Sherine Marcelle opted not to try to claim her first World Record this year, but she is just taking care of her health. However, she has never been the type of athlete that competes often, as she took part in 12 sanctioned competitions in the last six years. That seems to work well for Sherine, as she has won nine competitions

Sherine Marcelle looks to be in the best shape of her life, and she isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. If everything goes to plan and she adds a few more pounds to her PR, Sherine could become the first U90KG woman to squat (w/wraps) 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds) in a sanctioned competition.
