Hafthor Bjornsson is a 2x Arnold Strongman Classic champion and last years “World’s Strongest Man” winner. While Annie, on the other hand, is a 2x times Crossfit games winner(World’s Fittest Woman) and a 5 time Crossfit games podium placer.
They are both from Iceland and they both enjoy lifting heavy things. So it comes to no surprise they joined forces and did a “social experiment”-esque Crossfit workout session.
The warm-up:
Clean and jerk up to 90kg+, EMOM (every minute on the minute).
500m on the “concept 2” stationary bike for time to calculate workout time
I don’t think I even need to explain how easily Thor handled the weights on the clean and jerk. He can strict shoulder press 200kg, clean and jerking 90ish kg really doesn’t even break a sweat on him. He even tried pushing himself on the stationary bike only to be informed that the average speed on the bike will determine the pace of the workout. Mountain didn’t look all that happy finding out that information.

The Workout:
Three intervals, every four minutes
500m C2 bike.
Ten wall balls.
15m prowler push.
The workout proved to be a bit too difficult for the World’s Strongest Man winner. He managed to power through the first round but had to sit out on the second one citing stiff quads as one of the reasons he had to pull out. To somewhat save face, Thor’s cameraman and powerlifter, Runar, jumps in with Annie on the third set with less than a minute on the clock before the start of the third round.
Annie mentions in passing that Thor came to her gym to do Crossfit AFTER he had already finished his own Strongman training for the day. Which, thinking about it quite amazing. Strongman AND Crossfit training in one single day is no joke. Thor, being the happy giant that he is, shrugs his shoulders and says that it’s good that he went out of his comfort zone to train because it helps his conditioning and his endurance.
