Since 2016, the IFBB Pro League has watched the Classic Physique division take flight as one of the most popular attractions in the sport. The 2025 Mr. Olympia, slated for Oct. 9–11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, will feature over 60 Classic Physique athletes vying for the vacant title.
Competitors are tasked with executing five mandatory poses onstage, with judges determining who displays the best balance of condition, muscularity, symmetry, and proportions. Throughout the season, contenders have separated themselves from the pack, making it tougher than ever to predict how this competition will play out.
This year’s show looks nothing like 2024. For the past six years, Chris Bumstead has laid claim to gold and prevented the crown from ever changing hands. In his final title defense, “Cbum” was challenged by Mike Sommerfeld but still came out on top. With Bumstead retiring and Urs Kalecinski moving to Men’s Open, the field is wide open for someone to make a statement.

Top Contenders to Watch
Mike Sommerfeld
All eyes are on Sommerfeld after he stole two poses from Bumstead to take second place at the 2024 Olympia. He boasts no weak body parts and leveraged that strength in his last outing at the 2025 Arnold Classic. He defeated finalists Logan Franklin and Matt Greggo to pick up the prestigious title.
Between two-a-day training sessions and a recovery-based supplement stack, he’s pulling every lever possible to present his best onstage. Considering he was so close to Bumstead last year, Sommerfeld is a clear on-paper favorite heading into the event.

Ramon Queiroz
Queiroz has long battled to make the weight for Classic Physique, but when he nails his peak, his structure is extremely hard to beat. Queiroz dropped to fourth place at the 2024 Olympia, so he’s eager to redeem himself in Sin City. However, in 2022 and 2023, “Ramon Dino” was Bumstead’s main threat, securing silver in both outings. To stamp his entry, he registered a commanding victory at the 2024 Musclecontest Brazil Pro.
Queiroz has been in good company in the lead-up to the 2025 Olympia. He’s been training alongside former two-division Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford, taking training and motivation tips to help him showcase a never-before-seen look when the curtains rise.
Terrence Ruffin
Ruffin took the entire 2024 bodybuilding season off to make improvements. He’s recovered from a nagging elbow injury and wasted no time reasserting himself in the Olympia title picture. Ruffin claimed back-to-back victories this season at the 2025 Pittsburgh and New York Pro contests.
Ruffin has taken second place on the Classic Physique Olympia stage and has even defeated Bumstead in competition. Taking that experience into account, along with his new size and detail, we could see “Ruff Diesel” make a play for gold.
Breon Ansley
Breon Ansley is the only Classic Physique Olympia titleholder set to compete this year. He won the honor twice — once in 2017 and again in 2018 following Danny Hester’s reign. Ever since dropping the crown, Ansley has worked tirelessly to reclaim it. In 2024, Ansley secured fifth place against the world’s best.
Experience is definitely on Ansley’s side now, as he’s one of the older competitors set to step onstage. Though he expressed interest in a move to the 212, “The Black Swan’s” fire was relit for Classic Physique after hearing about Bumstead’s decision to walk away.
Dark Horses & Wildcards
Logan Franklin
Franklin’s dry conditioning is his calling card—and if his fellow competitors don’t match it, he could easily find himself atop the podium. Franklin gave Sommerfeld a run for his money at the Arnold Classic, proving his ability to stand against elite talent.
He chose a late qualifier to stamp his entry into the Olympia, and it paid off. Franklin dominated the 2025 Florida Pro to secure his qualification. His physique screams Classic and in many ways, resembles Bumstead’s look. Should he match his condition with enough muscle tissue, Franklin could pull off a huge upset.

Matt Greggo
Greggo found himself in 10th place at the 2024 Mr. Olympia. He’s slowly morphed his physique to perfectly fit into Classic Physique. To secure his passage for this year’s gathering, Greggo won the 2025 Detroit Pro against Wesley Vissers.
Greggo’s front and rear lat spreads are extremely dangerous shots, giving him the firepower needed to disrupt the lineup. He continues to improve, and with bodybuilding coach Chris Aceto by his side, there’s no telling what they’ll bring to this year’s Olympia.
Jose Manuel Munoz
Munoz is used to facing off against top talent in Classic Physique. He took sixth place behind Breon Ansley at the 2024 Olympia. He won an early qualifier last year to cement his entry at the 2024 Nutriyummy Pro Cup. Though he’s largely gone under the radar heading into this year’s show, his consistent conditioning levels and strong front poses are enough to rearrange the final pecking order when the event wraps up.
Michael Daboul
Daboul is a dark horse going into the 2025 Mr. Olympia. He always brings a shredded physique, and as soon as he couples that with more size, higher placements are for the taking. The Classic Physique standout secured seventh place at the Olympia last year, and he continues to refine his physique to fit the Classic Physique judging criteria.
He started the year with a fourth-place finish at the Arnold Classic. To qualify, Daboul picked up a hard-fought win at the stacked 2025 Dubai Pro. His steady rise in the division could culminate in a history-making performance when he steps back into the fray on Oct. 10.
