The 2022 AMP Classic Open Nationals was an extravaganza of incredible performances from powerlifting athletes all across the States. It took place on April 01-03, in Austin, Texas, and multiple athletes broke American and Unofficial IPF World Records. However, Amanda Lawrence didn’t score any records but was still proclaimed as the Best Overall Female Lifter across all weight classes. She won the raw 84 kg division with a total of 625.5 kg (1378.9 lbs).

On April 6th, through her Instagram, Amanda Lawrence revealed her thought process going into this competition. It seems like she treated this contest as a general rehearsal for the upcoming 2022 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships, which will take place from June 6-12, 2022, in Sun City, South Africa.

“The main goals leading into this meet were to go 9/9, leaving some room in the tank, & securing a spot on the 2022 IPF Worlds Team in South Africa this June. We did just that🎉, but it’s back to work now. We have 9 more weeks to prepare for the world championships & to bring our best package yet! *Hint, hint, going for that three-peat* 👀.”

She started competing in 2016, and has taken part in 20 sanctioned competitions thus far, coming out victorious in 15 of them. Her most notable wins are in three American National Championships, and the 2019 & 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

It seems like this year will also be very successful for her, as she is the heavy favorite for the 2022 IPF World Championships.
