It appears we may see Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay on a bodybuilding stage in the near future. In a recent Instagram story published on December 12, 2023, Ramy showcased his physique, prompting speculation about his potential participation at the 2024 Arnold Classic.

As a Men’s Open Pro, Ramy’s promise was evident from the moment he arrived in the IFBB Pro League. Sporting some of the biggest quads of any competitor, the Egyptian native weaponized his freak factor and size to seize the Mr. Olympia throne in 2020, courtesy of a special invitation

In 2021, Ramy proved himself atop the mountain, dispatching contenders Brandon Curry and Hadi Choopan. However, when it was time to battle at the 2022 Olympia in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ramy took fifth, leaving the door open for Hadi Choopan to take his title. Intending to bounce back in short order, the former champion competed at the Arnold Classic in 2023 but left in fourth place.

Opting out of this year’s Olympia won by Derek Lunsford, fans have patiently waited for Big Ramy’s return. Now, it appears that comeback could be on the docket sooner than later judging by the impressive physique update Ramy shared on social media.

Last year, despite placing fifth and losing his Olympia title to Choopan, Ramy surprised his fans by entering the Arnold Classic on short notice. In preparation for the event and as a measure to assist longevity, Ramy underwent a stem cell therapy procedure.

This treatment came following widespread criticisms of Ramy’s physique, which included many pointing to his deteriorating lats, lower back, and triceps, including IFBB Pro League head judge Steve Weinberger. With time to recover, the bodybuilding community is curious about how Ramy will look when he takes to a contest again.

Even though the competitors list has yet to be made public, there are a few threats Elssbiay could face should he enter the 2024 Arnold Classic. Most notably, Samson Dauda, the reigning AC champ and third-place 2023 Olympia finisher, will aim to extend his run in Columbus, Ohio. Meanwhile, third-place 2023 AC finisher Andrew Jacked has also teased his participation.

Having captured the Olympia title not once but twice, Big Ramy would easily be one of the on-paper favorites at the 2024 Arnold Classic. While he has yet to confirm or deny his entry, fans eagerly anticipate his next bodybuilding contest.
