Even the smallest details matter when you’re training with Charles Glass. In a recently published YouTube video on June 9, 2025, Glass broke down a secret shoulder pressing tip he implements to build bigger delts.
Known as ‘The Godfather of Bodybuilding,’ Charles Glass has years of experience shaping some of the best bodybuilding talents to ever hit the stage. He’s helped develop names such as Dexter Jackson, Chris Cormier, and the late Shawn Rhoden, all of whom realized remarkable success on the prestigious Mr. Olympia stage.
Glass, equipped with an engineering and gymnastics background, understands body mechanics and lifting techniques on a deep level. In his latest effort, he delved into how individuals can reap maximum benefits from seated shoulder presses, an incredibly common exercise used to grow the delts.

“When you go up, turn that [wrist] in,” he explained. “Twist it in [the wrists inward at the top of each repetition].”
By rotating the elbows to be evenly outward alongside a twist at the top of each repetition, Glass believes it allows the muscle to not only stretch more, but also deliver additional tension on different parts of the deltoid.
“Rotate it, and any time you have the hands here, it’s front delt, any time you shift and stretch it out, now you got more mid delts. The rotation makes it better and [more comfortable].”
From instructions to downright workout hacks, Charles Glass has come up with ingenious and often unconventional methods to make the most of a specific exercise. He recently broke down how to supercharge the push-up for better progress. He offered step-by-step instructions for the movement and shared that making sure the chest touches the ground is paramount for maximal gains.
It’s not just the shoulders and chest he’s concerned with. Glass has also offered expert insight into mastering preacher curls and skullcrushers. He elaborated on how to alleviate pressure from the elbows during preacher curls. As for skullcrushers, he recommended slowing down the movement because this ensures lifters can complete the reps safely without strain on the elbows.
Sometimes Glass’ tips seem simple, but that’s the reason why his training style has resonated with so many top-tier talents. He believes a simple wrist twist at the top of repetitions when performing the seated shoulder press could be the key to unlocking more gains.
