It’s almost time for kickoff at the 60th anniversary of the 2024 Mr. Olympia, taking place from October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a recent YouTube video shared on October 10, 2024, bodybuilding veteran Dennis Wolf offered his top picks for the Classic Physique division and gave his thoughts on the Men’s Open frontrunners slated to compete.
The battle to become the 2024 Mr. Olympia champion is on with some massive threats sticking out as possible winners. Reigning champion Derek Lunsford will aim to cement himself as a two-time Mr. Olympia when he takes on the lineup. In 2023, Lunsford won the Mr. Olympia title en route to becoming the sport’s first two-division champion.
However, on Lunsford’s path to glory is his teammate and rival Hadi Choopan. ‘The Persian Wolf’ has been on a tear this bodybuilding season, picking up big wins at the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK competitions. Samson Dauda and Andrew Jacked are also on deck, eager to snatch the world’s greatest honor.
In Classic Physique, Chris Bumstead has set his sights on a sixth title but will face off with heavy hitters of the category including Ramon Queiroz, Wesley Vissers, Urs Kalecinski, Breon Ansley, and Mike Sommerfeld. With the event approaching, Dennis Wolf revealed his thoughts on two of the IFBB’s most popular divisions.

Dennis Wolf Names Men’s Open Favorites at 2024 Mr. Olympia, Reveals Top 5 Classic Physique Picks
Dennis Wolf believes Andrew Jacked’s height, size, and look could become problematic for shorter standouts like Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan.
“Very interesting to me to see Andrew Jacked, where he’s going to land and how will he look next to the top two from last year, right? He is a head taller than Derek and Hadi. So, that’s a completely different look. As a tall bodybuilder, you create a different vision. You create a different picture and that’s completely different and an eye-catcher.”
“Shorter bodybuilders they are not so how you call it, I mean Derek is impressive for sure but it’s like something is missing, you always think like, if he would be a little bit taller can you imagine, so this is very very interesting to see it,” he shared.
He admits Derek Lunsford will be ‘hard to beat,’ but emphasized that he needed to improve his front poses.
“In my opinion, Derek is hard to beat. I only hope he’s going to show us a little bit more of conditioning because you kind of look off from the front poses in the beginning.
Then, he’s starting to take it over. I’d like to see some improvements there but he’s very young, and he’s going to make improvements for sure but how big are they going to be right? And what improvements is he really ready to pull off?”
Wolf was critical of Hunter Labrada, citing his performance at the 2024 Promuscle Italy Pro show. He believes his conditioning looks ‘weird’ and doesn’t understand why he lacks deep separation or striations.
Hunter Labrada also big name, he just won the show in Europe. I was not impressed. His condition looked to me a little weird. He’s big but kind of hard but he has no details. In some poses, it was really weird, right? It’s weird to see why there is no striation or something was missing. It’s like everything, thin skin, everything but it’s not deep deep cuts.”
