Hafthor Björnsson will make his powerlifting comeback in just a few days, as the competition in which he plans to compete is scheduled for December 3rd. He just finished his preparation by performing a massive deadlift of 380 kilograms (837.8 pounds). While going through the sets, the 2018 World’s Strongest Man also revealed that he wishes to join Joe Rogan on his popular podcast.

Hafthor Björnsson started his training session by quickly warming up his hips and loading some relatively light weights on the barbell. He progressively increased the weight and took plenty of rest in between the sets.

“I have roughly eight minutes between my sets. I also like to listen to my body.”

Plate by plate, Hafthor Björnsson quickly built up to a weight of 380 kilograms (837.8 pounds). Seeing that this was one of his heaviest raw pulls since setting the 501-kilogram (1,104.5-pound) All-Time Deadlift World Record, Hafthor was stoked to achieve it. He only used a lifting belt and some chalk to achieve this 380-kilogram (837.8-pound) deadlift, making it raw by all standards. In addition, Hafthor completed the lift with a conventional stance.

“It’s been a very rough preparation. I had slight setbacks… I’m very happy.”

While resting in between sets, Hafthor Björnsson took some time to talk about a range of stuff with his friends in the gym. One of those was his admiration of the famous podcast owner, Joe Rogan.

“I’d love to be on his podcast. I am a huge fan of Joe Rogan. I think he is a cool guy, a great guy.”

Hafthor Björnsson then proceeded to show the Instagram message he sent directly to Joe Rogan. However, while Rogan did read the message, he never actually replied to it. Hafthor’s interest in joining Joe Rogan’s table was not diminished by this fact, so he once again expressed his desire to be part of the collaboration.

“What’s up Joe. Come on man, let’s do the podcast… Maybe he sees this.”

Hafthor Björnsson’s goal at the upcoming powerlifting competition is to Total 1,000 kilograms (2,204.6 pounds) across all three lifts. He has previously done this before, but the difference now is his bodyweight. The last time that Hafthor competed in a powerlifting competition he weighed 197.5 kilograms (435.4 pounds). Meanwhile, his current bodyweight is around 165 kilograms (363.8 pounds).

Hafthor also further improved his own Weight Over Bar World Record at the 2022 Rogue Invitational, which saw him clear the height of 20-feet 3-inches, as well as hint at a full comeback to Strongman. This is what everyone is hoping for, since Bjornsson is one of the greatest Strongman athletes of all time. Some of his highlights include a 2018 WSM title, numerous Arnold Strongman Classic victories, as well as countless victories at other prestigious meets.
