25-Olympia-winning bodybuilding coach Hany Rambod is breaking down one of the sport’s most impressive physiques. On March 2, 2025, he critiqued and rated the build of reigning six-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead.
While Hany Rambod recently retired from coaching athletes, he made quite an impact over the past few years. He guided both Hadi Choopan and Derek Lunsford to Mr. Olympia titles. But that only scratches the surface of what he’s done in the Open class. He’s also assisted bodybuilding legends Jay Cutler and Phil Heath during their high-stakes Olympia contests.
Rambod helped Chris Bumstead remain the top bodybuilder in Classic Physique as well. While he no longer actively trains ‘Cbum,’ that hasn’t stopped him from offering his unfiltered opinion of the Canadian champion’s physique.

Below, Rambod analyzed six of Chris Bumstead’s poses from the 2024 EVLS Prague Pro, courtesy of his recent YouTube video.
Side Chest
Rambod explained that runner-up Bumstead leveraged the added weight in the Open to bring more fullness to his side chest pose.

“He’s showing it off [shoulder width] very, very well. It’s really nice because his chest is super full,” shares Rambod. “You see that 3D look? Well, that’s what an extra 10 pounds can get you, even more of that fullness.”
“We’re looking at this physique that he had onstage in Prague. Going down to the arms, arm fullness here, that looks great. Triceps, biceps are popping, even his forearms are super full, that’s why he’s got that fullness.”
He labeled this as one of Bumstead’s ‘knockout shots.’
“This was one of his knockout shots. He looked really good in this side chest.”
Front Lat Spread
The front lat spread was another power shot for Bumstead, with Rambod noting that he presented a 3D physique due to his overall fullness and popping lats.
“His arms are nice and full. He has nice quad sweep. That quad sweep all the way through is nice and round. The waist is still tight, really popping through the lats. Again, really showing that 3D physique.”
“It really even accentuated what he already had when it comes to this great silhouette.”
Back Double Biceps
Out of all poses, the back double is where he thought Bumstead had the most ground to make up.
“This is one of those areas where I feel like he can be able to improve the most,” he shared.
He said ‘Cbum’ would have benefited from more depth in his lats.
“On the back double bicep, bringing in more depth through there [lats] and then again, a little bit more conditioning, I could see that being tighter,” he shared.
Rambod believes Bumstead could shore this shot up using one-arm dumbbell rows, bent-over rows, and reverse grip bent-over rows.
“That back could have used a little bit more muscle if there was a future in Open,” he added. “If he came back, that’s where he’d need to be able to do the rows, being able to do one-arm dumbbell rows, bent-over row, reverse grip bent-over rows. All of those rowing exercises that are going to allow him to build even more back thickness.”
Abs and Thighs
He was complimentary of Bumstead’s abs and thigh pose, though he pointed out that his legs could use more size to contend with top-tier Open competitors.
“It looked absolutely awesome. I feel like his legs look great,” shared Rambod. “It’s just where the back, on that back double bicep, rear lat spread, he could have been a bit thicker.”
“Continuously building up his legs. So his legs could be just even bigger going against the Open guys. If he was coming back, being able to fill those out, we talked about that, squats, hack squats, being able to do those exercises are going to go much, much further if you’re able to put on the extra weight without having to worry about making weight.”
3/4 Twisted Back Double Biceps
Aside from tighter glutes, Rambod thought his 3/4 twisted back double biceps pose was on point.
“Do I think there’s anything wrong with this shot? No, again, can you always be a little bit tighter? Yes. He could just be a little bit tighter through the glutes.”
Single Arm Classic Front Double Bicep
Lastly, he assessed Bumstead’s single arm Classic front double bicep shot, emphasizing that he brought a stellar combination of size, fullness, and symmetry.
“Ultimately, I think it was a great look. We were able to bring in a great combination of size, fullness, symmetry, conditioning, where we gave up a little bit of conditioning, we ended up making it up with a lot of fullness.”
Rambod’s Rating of Chris Bumstead’s Open Physique: 9.1
In the end, Rambod gave Bumstead’s Open physique in Prague a 9.1, leaving room for improvements.
“In that physique and what he was able to bring, so, on a scale from 1-10, Olympia 10 being the absolute pinnacle, I would rate that physique 9.1. That’s right, still room for improvement for sure.”
This wasn’t Hany Rambod’s first time rating and critiquing the physiques of mega-popular names in the sport. He recently examined Sam Sulek’s and Urs Kalecinski‘s, laying out where they could improve by providing exercise recommendations.
Bumstead will likely remain the most successful Classic Physique athlete to compete in the IFBB Pro League. While fans and bodybuilding voices would like to see him make a comeback in the Men’s Open, he appears content with his new life of retirement for the foreseeable future.
