Bodybuilder Hunter Labrada is amid preparations to bring his all-time best to the stage on September 8. Taking to his YouTube channel on August 24, 2024, Labrada showcased a full day of eating as he dials in his physique for the nearing 2024 Promuscle Italy Pro where he intends to earn his qualification for the Mr. Olympia contest.

In the Men’s Open class, few names ring like Hunter Labrada’s. His father, Lee Labrada, was a potent force in the class during the 1980s, having secured a top-four position at the Mr. Olympia event for seven consecutive years. Hunter has learned from his father, who is celebrated to this day for his artistic approach to the sport alongside his memorable posing routines.

Hunter Labrada has placed as high as fourth on the Mr. Olympia stage (2021). Last season, the 32-year-old Pro was forced to correct gut health issues, which he believes held him back from pushing the best of his division. In addition to winning the 2023 Tampa Pro, Labrada took runner-up in a close showing to Andrew Jacked at the Texas Pro. After sliding into sixth at his last Olympia, Labrada carefully planned out this year’s campaign to increase his chances of winning the sport’s biggest title.

Labrada is gambling on himself. The nearing 2024 Promuscle Italy Pro is one of the last qualifiers for those in the Men’s Open category. However, if he does pull off the win, his mind, and especially his physique, will be primed for a showdown at the 2024 Mr. Olympia, taking place this October.

What’s Hunter Labrada Eating In Prep for the 2024 Promuscle Italy Pro?

Check out his full meals below:

Meal 1

  • Steak
  • Ghee butter
  • White rice
  • 2 Eggs
  • Green onion
  • Garlic
  • Blueberries
  • Pineapple Mango NoSauce

Labrada kicked off his morning with his favorite meal of the day before laying out his training plans with coach Ben Chow.

“This coming Sunday will be off day and that Sunday I’m actually going to be driving out to Ben’s house, I’ll be staying with Ben for eight days. Me and him and then his athlete and co-coach Carl are going to be training together getting me dialed in.

Basically just running a camp for that week and then I will get home that following Monday and then I’m home for six days and then we fly to Italy that next Monday. Ben and I fully plan on me coming home from his house skinned and ready to go.”

Meal 2

  • 200 Chicken
  • 10 grams Ghee butter
  • Pink salt
  • Green onion
  • 150 grams White rice
  • 2 dates (40 grams)
  • Pineapple Mango NoSauce

To ensure he doesn’t cheat on his diet with his daughter’s snacks this prep, Labrada put a combination lock on his pantry door.

“Meal two, fresh off of a nap, so we’ll eat this and it will be time to train back,” said Labrada. “It just got hard physically [this prep] like seven days ago. It sucks I haven’t had a cheeseburger in 10 weeks.”

Intra-Workout Supplementation

  • 20 grams of carbs from Carb powder
  • A scoop of Electrolytes
  • Pre-Workout Glycerol

Meal 3 – Post-Workout

  • 65 grams Cream of rice (2 servings)
  • Water
  • Salt
  • 60 grams of whey isolate

He offered a pro tip for anyone who enjoys cream of rice as much as he does.

“Water and cream of rice… tried and true method, take the grams of cream of rice you’re eating and multiply it by 3.4 and that’s how much water you want.

Cream of rice formula patented six or seven years ago now found that one out in my prep for the Europa in 2017. Been eating cream of rice for a while.”

Meal 5

  • 260 grams white fish
  • 150 grams white rice
  • Pineapple Mango NoSauce
  • Green onions

Although cod and tilapia aren’t his go-to protein sources, that’s what was on the menu for Labrada’s third meal of the day.

“The white fish today is cod. Not going to lie, that’s towards the bottom of my lift in terms of white fish preferences only by tilapia. But that’s what they had today so that’s what we’re eating. Typically I like doing some orange roughy or mahi, or a more meaty of a fish not as flaky and fishy tasting, more like chicken.”

He also touched on sugar-free and artificial sweeteners during prep, which he doesn’t seem to mind much.

“Sugar-free drinks, diet sodas, I don’t have a huge issue with them. With a couple of things being said, one, I think they should be cut out three weeks out and then I do feel they make a difference with that, and two, outside of that three weeks they shouldn’t be there, so weeks like 16 or 18 through three, depending on how long you take, it shouldn’t be like this titrating going up in consumption.”

Meal 6

  • 260 grams fish
  • Lettuce
  • Salt
  • 10 grams Olive Oil

He topped off the day with a fish salad doused in olive oil.

“Meal six, fish salad,” says Labrada.

Some in the sport, such as Chris Aceto, believe Hunter Labrada is taking a legitimate risk by taking part in a late qualifier for the 2024 Mr. Olympia. While he accepts that this plan could work in Labrada’s favor, Aceto highlighted that bodybuilders often get sick during preparations, which could hinder his chances of success on the Olympia stage, assuming he qualifies.

Having once drank most of his daily meals, Labrada has made huge strides in his diet and nutrition. Fans look forward to seeing him showcase an all-time best look in Italy, don’t miss it!
