Julius Maddox needs no introduction… he owns the all-time raw bench press world record of 350kg770lbs and progressed at a freakish rate to achieve the historical feat last month, since surpassing the previous record in August of last year with a 740lb bench press.
But recently, Maddox returned to lifting what he considers to be “heavy” weight (yeah, pretty crazy) after not having done so for 3 weeks he explained in an Instagram post. His 600lb bench press for 9 reps matched a previous PR which he did while wearing a wig in an effort to bring some joy and happiness during such a difficult time.
Maddox wrote on Instagram… “600x 9 ( Matched my Pr )
First time lifting heavy in 3 weeks…“
He also gave a little speech for encouragement, which you can hear in the video below…
“Yeah and I got a wig on simply because I just want to bring joy and happiness in any way, shape or form I can during this season. I’m going to continue to encourage you guys to keep fighting, keep grinding, I hope your home lifts are going well, and here’s a little motivation.”

Maddox has been focusing on doing lots of reps recently, even taking on a 400-rep bench press session, as it doesn’t make sense for him to keep up with his typical training regime due to the current uncertainty. But he still plans to become the first man to ever bench press 800lbs which is a goal he’s aiming for by June.
And he too is finding ways to work out with minimal equipment, recently posting a “basic home workout”. Although, he did utilize a few helpful training tools such as dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, and a weighted sandbag. So if you have this stuff, feel free to check it out.
We’re sure his positive words, funny wig, and performance cheered a lot of people up for the moment being. But we definitely can’t wait to see him achieve his 800lb bench press goal which we hope he does this year.
