As a world record powerlifter, Julius Maddox can’t afford to miss a training session. That is why he devised a surefire way to get an insane workout in without the gym.

Maddox is having a stellar year already, even though 2020 is only four months in. He managed to hit a whopping 770lb at the Arnold Classic, in one of the best performances of his career. Then he followed that up with plans to extend his world record further, by going for an unbelievable 800lb lift.

However in order to accomplish that, Julius Maddox is required to train diligently. Obviously that got a lot harder, after gyms began being shut down due to the global health crisis. Nevertheless, he would not be deterred, as he showed in a recent YouTube video. Here he joins together with some friends to improvise some pretty solid exercises, using the bare minimum amount of tools.

To do the exercises in the video, Maddox explains that you need a few dumbbells, some kettlebells, resistance bands, and a weighted sandbag. On top of that, he uses a car for the use of a vehicle push which is done with others for safety. The , he combined the bands and kettlebells, as well as a bar, to improvise a barbell for some bent-over rows. Following some overhead dumbbell presses, Julius opens up about why he finds it so important to keep working during these tough times.

“Here’s the thing, everybody know that everybody’s been putting out these challenges, but at the end of the day you shouldn’t need a challenge, someone to challenge you. This is not just a lifestyle, this is a life change. This is something we need to have daily or at least multiple times a week. We are working out!”

Then, Maddox and his friends move on to bodyweight exercises, doing jump squats and push-ups. He goes on to show a nifty way to use the kettlebells and bands for makeshift cable curls. The crew then ends things on a high note, doing a superset of lateral raises, flys, and front raises. By the end of the workout, everyone is worn out.

You can watch the full video below, to see this crazy home workout from Julius Maddox. All in all, it is a pretty solid and well-balanced workout. If you have the gear needed, you can accomplish all kinds of things.
