Men’s Open star Kai Greene looks to be on the verge of a bodybuilding comeback. On February 21, 2025, he shared a cryptic video about a possible return to the sport, emphasizing that he never retired from bodybuilding.
In the Instagram reel, Kai Greene shared a video of his arrival at the Pittsburgh International Airport after traveling from New York. While he doesn’t explicitly confirm he’s competing at the New York Pro or Pittsburgh Pro, many online have inferred as much.
During Greene’s career, he gave former seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath all he could handle on stage. Their rivalry remains one of the most heated and storied in the sport. While he never managed to secure the Sandow trophy, he strung together three victories on the Arnold Classic stage (2009-2010, 2016).
Throughout his tenure, Greene defeated mainstays of the Open class, including the late Shawn Rhoden, Dexter Jackson, and Jay Cutler. His last contest was in 2016, where he secured gold at the Arnold Classic South America contest. Nearly a decade later, it appears we could be closer than ever to seeing ‘The Predator’ back on stage.

In a recent Instagram reel, Greene spoke on the possibility of a return, underlining that he never retired.
“When I get up in the morning, it’s because I have hope. I’m capable of creating the realities that I ask for and am willing to work for. Honestly, I never retired,” he explained. “I’m inspired to get up in the gym these days, doing it is an expression of hope and I feel very very optimistic about tomorrow. I would want to win. I would want to win,” states Kai Greene.
“!!! Don’t call it a comeback !!!” Greene shared.

Although fans are thrilled about these developments, this wasn’t the first time Kai Greene teased a bodybuilding comeback. In a 2023 interview, he underscored that he hadn’t officially retired from the sport, telling industry expert Ron Harris, ‘I would never want to say never,’ concerning a return to the stage.
If Greene did return and compete at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro, he’d have a massive lineup to deal with. Currently, Nick Walker, Martin Fitzwater, and Michal Krizanek have announced their entries for the event, scheduled for May 10-11 in Pittsburgh.
As of this writing, Kai Greene has yet to speak to anyone about contest plans. However, should that change, Fitness Volt will keep you updated on this story.
