Bodybuilder Matthew Greggo Shares 4,896-Calorie Full Day of Eating to Get Shredded for 2024 Mr. Olympia

Bodybuilder Matthew Greggo is making sure his nutrition is on point this year to deliver his all-time best conditioning. Taking to his YouTube channel on August 18, 2024, Greggo walked fans through his 4,896-calorie full day of eating in preparation for the 2024 Mr. Olympia contest.

“Eight weeks out of Olympia. We have a highly requested video today because it seems like everyone wants to see this one. I think this is our first full day of eating of this prep. It’s going to be a good one guys, I hope you enjoy.”

Getting lost in the shuffle of the IFBB’s Classic Physique division can be challenging. The highly competitive category is home to some of the most disciplined and successful bodybuilders in the league. That means standing out is downright tough. And who sits atop the throne? Reigning five-time Classic Physique Olympia Chris Bumstead.

Matt Greggo is a surefire threat eager to exert his will on the grand stage. He’s enjoyed a mega-successful 2024 season, which began with a silver finish at the prestigious 2024 Pittsburgh Pro show. What makes Greggo so dangerous is that he learns from his setbacks and mistakes. Just a few weeks later, he secured his Olympia qualification with a shredded physique at Steve Weinberger’s annual New York Pro.

Greggo was unable to secure a top-15 finish at the 2023 Olympia, and while the result was a tough pill to swallow at the time, the Classic Physique bodybuilder intends to quiet the naysayers in less than two months.

Find his meals below:

Meal 1

  • 162 grams of cream of rice
  • 100 grams of blueberries
  • 20 grams of peanut butter/almond butter
  • 50 grams of why isolate

Greggo starts his day with his biggest meal, consisting of cream of rice, blueberries, nut butter, and whey isolate.

“Our first meal is pretty big,” says Greggo. “I know it’s more than 150 grams [of cream of rice].”

“This is by far my bigger meal of the day. I like it because it has a lot of flavor. It’s not that my other meals aren’t enjoyable but they are just like meat and rice for the most part. This is the best one by far.”

Morning Supplements

  • Defend Organ Support
  • Citrus Bergamot
  • Astragalus

Meal 2

  • 220 grams of steak
  • 400 grams of rice

For his pre-workout meal, Greggo enjoyed steak and a whopping 400-gram serving of rice.

“Meal two and meal three are the exact same meals,” explains Greggo. “400 grams of rice is a pretty good amount.”

“This is going to be a pre-workout meal. They are the same meals for meal two and three but there is a nice addition to the pre-workout meal that I’m going to be showing you guys here in a second. Chris is known for like muffins, donuts, stuff like that, but when I started my diet with him, and I gave him the diet I was doing and it was pop tarts.”

Meal 3

  • 220 grams of steak
  • 400 grams of rice
  • 1 blueberry pop tarts

Aside from his serving of steak and rice for meal three, Greggo enjoyed a carb-rich blueberry pop tart.

“We’re getting focused eating this meal. Let me show you the pop tart. So, it’s the frosted blueberry one, that’s my favorite flavor. I’m like bias because it’s usually something I use in preps or carb-ups, when I’m having a pop tart it’s that one.”

“This is a major key [the pop tarts].”

Supplements

  • 3 capsules of Utilize

Meal 4

  • 400 grams of rice
  • 250 grams of chicken

Oddly enough, Greggo says he feels worse on high-carb days during prep.

“On my high carb days, it’s weird, I kind of feel worse on my high carb days I don’t know why. Maybe you guys can agree or disagree I don’t know. But I always feel way worse on my high-carb days than my low days. It makes no sense. You would think you’d feel better but I feel way worse.”

“It’s like that in prep only,” says Greggo. “I feel just terrible when I’m eating a lot of food and when I’m in prep after some low days.”

Meal 5

  • 200 grams of rice
  • 200 grams of chicken

For his fifth, Greggo devoured chicken and rice.

“It wasn’t a crazy meal.”

Meal 6

  • 250 grams of chicken
  • 250 grams of rice

Although chicken and rice make up most of his diet, Greggo doesn’t mind, especially since his physique continues to undergo dramatic changes ahead of the Olympia contest.

“Like I said, chicken and rice, we’re eating a lot of that bro diet. Chicken and rice. I don’t have a problem with that I enjoy it. I’ll tell you what, we are definitely making some really rapid changes at eight weeks out from the Olympia. I’m excited.”

Macro Breakdown

  • Calories: 4,896
  • Protein: 363 grams
  • Carbs: 671 grams
  • Fats: 71 grams

Aside from ‘Cbum,’ Matthew Greggo will face a daunting lineup at the Olympia, where he intends to improve his placing from last year. He’ll have to contend with former Arnold Classic winners Ramon Queiroz and Terrence Ruffin, alongside surging Classic Physique talents Urs Kalecinski and Wesley Vissers, who recently won gold at the Arnold Classic Ohio and UK contests.

With renewed discipline and a desire to penetrate the first call-out, fans expect a statement performance from Matthew Greggo in October. All questions will be answered later this year at the 2024 Mr. Olympia for its 60th anniversary.
