The 2023 Mr. Olympia contest is around the corner and Milos Sarcev is excited to see which competitors cement their names as the best in the world. In a recent IFBB AMA Podcast, Sarcev discussed Derek Lunsford’s and Regan Grimes’ chest density one month from the big competition.
It’s been a wild ride for IFBB Pro League standout Derek Lunsford. He is a former 2021 212 Olympia champion, who boasts mind-boggling symmetry, proportions, and fullness. Last year, Lunsford stole the show guest posing at the Pittsburgh Pro. This sudden appearance impressed the masses and led to him receiving a special invite to compete at 2022 Olympia in the Open.
Although he was worried about matching the size of mass monsters in the Open, Lunsford nailed his first show in the unrestricted division. In the end, he secured runner up, but left the world excited about his promising future.
Determined to take down his teammate Hadi Choopan for gold, time will tell if Lunsford can capture the sport’s highest honor. Milos Sarcev was the latest bodybuilding personality to discuss the frontrunner before next month.
Milos Sarcev Suggests Derek Lunsford Needs Striated Full Chest to Contend for 2023 Olympia Gold
While acknowledging that Grimes’ chest needs improvements, Sarcev was also asked about Lunsford’s chest, which has long been pointed to as his biggest area of concern heading into November.
“He has a little bit softness, it isn’t hard density,” said Milos Sarcev. “Yes, something like that [Derek Lunsford]. But then he [Regan Grimes] doesn’t have that full chest from the front. So if you analyze him [Regan] he doesn’t have density, hardness, striations, big separation all that stuff, brachialis, tie-ins, all that, deep abs, here, he just doesn’t have that yet but beautiful beautiful shape right? Then when he turns on the back, you can see everything is missing from the front and then some.”
Not taking anything away from the former 212 Olympia, Sarcev complimented the contender for his humility and skill level.
“I mean Derek Lunsford is so good. He has so much humility. He never takes a whatever joke I make. You know”
This isn’t the first time the bodybuilding community has heard about Lunsford’s chest. The 2022 Olympia runner-up has taken significant measures in the gym to ensure his front side matches the conditioning of his back. From working with former 212 Olympia Flex Lewis to annihilating a FST-7 chest training session with Hany Rambod, Lunsford is leaving nothing up to chance in his pursuit of Olympia glory.
As for Sarcev, his main concern is ensuring that he brings both Samson Dauda and Regan Grimes in at 100%. Given the respective momentum of both competitors, they stand a solid shot of moving up the ranks on the sport’s biggest showcase on the calendar, which will happen from November 2-5 in Orlando, Florida.
