Deadlifting half a ton was deemed impossible for a very long time, until it proved not to be. However, even after Eddie Hall became the first man to do it, only a few athletes in the world have managed to replicate the feat. One that has unofficially joined the half-ton club is Ventsislav Dimitrov, as he recently shared a video on Instagram showing off his 505-kilogram (1,113.3-pound) deadlift, which he performed at the 2023 Eisenhart Black Competition on December 2nd.
In order to complete the humongous lift, Ventsislav Dimitrov’s weights were first loaded onto a deadlift barbell, which is longer, thinner, and bends more than the standard one. Ventsislav then put on a pair of lifting straps and set up his sumo stance. He pulled out the slack from the barbell, and the weights quickly separated from the floor. Ventsislav straightened himself out with the barbell in his hands before lowering the weight down and concluding the lift.
Ventsislav Dimitrov’s bodyweight at the time was around 100 kilograms, according to his Instagram profile caption. So, the deadlift he performed came out to approximately 5x his bodyweight.
“505 Not that hard to be honest that being said floor needs to make some gains”

Ventsislav Dimitrov’s deadlift was heavier than the current All-Time World Record held by Hafthor Bjornsson, which stands at 501 kilograms (1,104.5 pounds). However, Ventsislav did not break the record, since the simultaneous combination of sumo stance and lifting straps is not allowed in either Powerlifting or Strongman. Therefore, powerlifting allows sumo but doesn’t allow straps. On the other hand, Strongmen can use straps but can’t perform deadlifts with a sumo stance.
So, in order to claim the record, Ventsislav Dimitrov either needs to strengthen his grip or switch to a conventional stance. The first option is not that far-fetched, since powerlifters like Danny Grigsby have already performed huge deadlifts without lifting straps.
Another powerlifter similar to Ventsislav Dimitrov is Jamal Browner, who managed to lock out 500 kilograms (1,102.3 pounds) during one of his training sessions. Jamal also attempted to deadlift 505 kilograms (1,113.3 pounds) on multiple occasions, but has not been successful so far.
Ventsislav Dimitrov does not often take part in sanctioned powerlifting competitions, as he only has two appearances to his name so far. He did, however, win both of the competitions he took part in.

Ventsislav Dimitrov has now seemingly set a new goal of performing two repetitions with a 505-kilogram (1,113.3-pound) deadlift. That would be an extremely difficult feat of strength to achieve, but he has already lifted unthinkable amounts of weight. So, if anyone can do it, then that is Dimitrov.
