Early career
The 2012 North American Championships win carried his professional card. He placed thirteenth at the 2015 Mr. Olympia on his first appearance, won the Chicago Pro in 2016 and improved to eighth at the Olympia that year.
2017 was his best season and his last. He was second at the Arnold Classic in March and second at the New Zealand Pro, and did not compete again.

Death
McCarver died on 22 August 2017, aged 26, while preparing for that year's Mr. Olympia.
The medical findings that followed are not reproduced here. They were reported in stages and argued over publicly, and none of it adds anything a reader of his competition record needs.
Legacy
He competed as a professional for three seasons. The Arnold Classic runner-up finish in the last of them is why the name still comes up: it put him among the small group of open competitors who looked capable of winning the sport's biggest titles, and there is no later record to measure that against.
