Hadi Choopan is gearing up for redemption at the 2024 Mr. Olympia but made time for a special one-on-one interview with his coach, Hany Rambod. Taking to YouTube on September 27, 2024, Choopan discussed a hypothetical match-up between Ronnie Coleman and Phil Heath before sharing how Chris Bumstead might fare in the Men’s Open division.
Hadi Choopan has had an incredible 2024 bodybuilding season so far. He started it off earlier this year in March at the Arnold Classic Ohio, where he made earning the victory against former champion Samson Dauda look easy. He followed that up with another win at the Arnold Classic UK, solidifying his status as a formidable opponent on the competitive stage.
Hadi Choopan Discusses Ronnie Coleman vs Phil Heath and How Chris Bumstead Would Fare in Men’s Open
Now, the former 2022 Mr. Olympia champion is determined to earn back the title come this October 10-13. However, Choopan took a small break from his prep to sit down with his coach Hany Rambod, who also trains Chris Bumstead and Derek Lunsford, to answer some of his fans’ questions.
First, Choopan gave his thoughts on how Chris Bumstead would do in the Men’s Open.

“Well, Chris has a great physique, top tier in Classic but in bodybuilding, it’s different. We’ve challenged bigger guys, 30 kilos heavier or 20 centimeters taller than me. If Chris jumps into Open bodybuilding he has to try harder and get better to be top tier competitor here too” Choopan explained.
Next, Choopan responded to who he thought was better between Ronnie Coleman and Phil Heath.
“Who was better Ronnie or Phil? Well, that’s a tough one. Ronnie and Phil are bodybuilding legends. Both had incredible genetics and training. It’s hard to say who is better between the best. They were both champs in their eras. As fans, we appreciate both. Each was a king of their time.”
Acknowledging that they both had their strengths, Hadi Choopan couldn’t pick between Coleman and Heath, stating he is a fan of both.
“Ronnie, being older, paved the way as a pioneer. Phil, being younger, showcased physique aesthetics we relate to more. Everyone can have their favorite, but choosing between two kings is impossible. I’m a fan of both of them.”
When questioned about his favorite supplement, Choopan didn’t hesitate to name Creatine as the best.
“Creatine. The other bodybuilders, all scientists and doctors recommend creatine for building the best muscle. If you want better muscles, use creatine to boost absorption and growth. Well, creatine is a bodybuilding supplement.”
Finally, Choopan reflected on his physiques from the past, and while he believes it should be left to the fans and judges to decide, he thought his 2019 Mr. Olympia look was the best so far.
“Well, from my perspective, I’d say I’ve been good every year, but that’s something the fans and public should judge. My Arnold Classic and physique were about 99 percent there I’d say. But personally, I have to say I prefer 2019 (Olympia) the most.”
Hadi Choopan recently hit the gym with teammate Derek Lunsford, destroying a chest and triceps workout guided by their coach, Hany Rambod. As the 2024 Mr. Olympia creeps closer, set to take place this October 10-13 in Las Vegas, Nevada, both Men’s Open standouts are preparing to go head-to-head for the coveted Sandow trophy, which will be dipped in gold for the 60th anniversary of the event.
Choopan will have to bring his A-game when he faces the greatest names in bodybuilding in just 13 days. Considering the package he brought earlier this year, it will be exciting to see the improvements he has made in the months since then. Whether or not it is enough to earn him back the title of Mr. Olympia, time will only tell. Be sure to follow us here at Fitness Volt so you don’t miss out on any of the action!
