Strongman-turned-professional boxer Hafthor Bjornsson recently shared what a full day of his eating looks like. Bjornsson consumed a whopping 10000 calories per day during his days as a strongman. However, he has made significant changes to his diet, training, and overall lifestyle since transitioning from competitive strongman to boxing. These changes have helped him lose nearly 100lbs weight and get the necessary body composition and attributes that are necessary to compete as a boxer.

Bjornsson is scheduled to fight his archrival and fellow retired Strongman Eddie Hall on March 19th, 2022 in Dubai. During a recent video interview with Men’s Health magazine’s YouTube channel, The Mountain shared what his full day of eating looks like heading into the much-anticipated boxing match.

Hafthor Bjornsson’s full day of eating

Hafthor Bjornsson gave the overview of his previous Strongman diet at the beginning of the video and stated that the meal composition and caloric intake has changed a lot since transitioning to boxing. Thor used to prefer fatty red meat cuts like the Ribeye before. However, he incorporates leaner cuts like the tenderloin in his current diet.

Hafthor Bjornsson’s full day of eating includes 5 meals that consist of:

Breakfast

  • Beef Tenderloin – 8 ounces
  • Whole eggs – 2 no.s
  • Oatmeal – 110 grams
  • Berries – 150 grams
  • Orange Juice – 1 glass

Meal 2

  • Beef Tenderloin – 8 ounces
  • Zucchini, Spinach, or any type of green vegetables – 100 grams
  • White rice – 140 grams (amount of rice changes according to his training, schedule and how he feels physically)

Meal 3

  • Codfish – 8 ounces
  • Potatoes – 300 grams
  • Green vegetables – 100 grams

Meal 4

  • Salmon fish – 8 ounces
  • White rice – 140 grams
  • Green vegetables – 100 grams

Meal 5

  • Thor’s Skyr*
  • Berries – 100 grams
  • Nut butter (peanut/almond etc.) – 30 grams

(*Skyr is an Icelandic prebiotic similar to Greek Yogurt. However, it has a creamier texture and does not contain as much sugar. It is rich in protein along with other nutrients.)

Hafthor Bjornsson stated that the last meal of his day tastes like a dessert but it is still rich in nutrients and does not sidetrack his progress and diet.

Dessert and Cheat day

An Icelandic delicacy called ‘Bragoarefur’ is Hafthor Bjornsson’s favorite dessert. The name translates to ‘Tricky Fox’. It is an ice cream mixed with candies.

While following a strict diet is necessary for Hafthor Bjornsson’s athletic pursuits, it is important for a human being to give in to cravings and satisfy the taste buds also. Talking about the cheat day, Hafthor Bjornsson said:

“On a cheat day, I would eat anything that my stomach desires. Sometimes it’s ice cream, sometimes it’s Pizza. Sometimes burger, sometimes Sushi. Whatever I desire, I eat.”

Bjornsson vs Hall is an emotionally driven rivalry

Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall have been fierce rivals since their days as competitive Strongmen. The rivalry crossed over to the sport of boxing and the duo will finally squash the Beef in a six-round boxing match inside the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, UAE on Saturday, March 19th. It is one of the most anticipated crossover boxing matches of all time and Thor and Hall have arrived in Dubai ahead of time to get acclimated to the harsh Dubai climate.

They were originally scheduled to box on September 18th of 2021 but the fight was cancelled as 2017 WSM Eddie Hall suffered a Biceps injury. Bjornsson instead fought arm wrestling ace Devon Larratt instead and finished the fight via a first-round knockout. The build-up to this fight has been aggressive and emotionally charged. Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall took the tension to another level during their recent face-off in Dubai. While everyone expected something to happen during the face-off, Thor and Hall almost came to blows and had to be separated before things could take a serious turn. As the two were being separated, it even appeared that both ended up spitting on each other.

Hafthor Bjornsson shared his thoughts on the incident in a YouTube video and stated that ‘it was an obvious set-up that Eddie was in on’. Thor also stated that he did not want to ‘throw two years of hard work out the window’ and chose to stay calm even in the heat of the moment. The duo also sat down across the table and spoke about their previous differences. Both men have made predictions to knock out the other this coming Saturday.
