Why Raw Totals Are Not Enough
A 700 kg total from an 83 kg lifter and a 700 kg total from a 120 kg lifter are not the same achievement. To compare lifters across weight classes fairly, you need bodyweight-adjusted scoring. That is what this tool does: it calculates four different scoring formulas for each athlete so you can see who is genuinely stronger, not just heavier.
Scoring Formulas Explained
DOTS is the current modern standard, built to correct biases in older formulas at very high and very low bodyweights. Wilks was the global standard from 1997 onward and is still widely recognized. IPF Goodlift Points (IPF GL) is the official formula used at all IPF-sanctioned competitions worldwide, with separate coefficients for raw and equipped lifting. Glossbrenner was the IPF standard before IPF GL replaced it and remains in use at some federations.
Reading the Career Timeline
The career timeline chart plots each athlete's total or DOTS score at every competition across their career. This reveals who is on an upward trajectory, who peaked early, and who has sustained elite performance over many years. Use the database search to find athletes, then come back here to compare them directly.
