Bodybuilder Urs Kalecinski has become one of the most talked-about Men’s Open contenders. Despite anticipation for his next contest, the rising star revealed on March 14, 2026, that he might take the rest of the year off from competing.

Fans were shocked when Kalecinski made the sudden jump into the Men’s Open class. Behind the scenes, he bulked up to an impressive 261 pounds, a far cry from his shredded look in the Classic Physique division.

When he made his Open debut, the German native delivered, securing first place at the 2025 Italy Pro. He used the momentum to secure the Open Bodybuilding title at the Europa Pro Championships a week later.

In his first Olympia appearance as an Open talent, “The Miracle Bear” placed 13th. The tea leaves suggested he’d compete soon, but it looks like Kalecinski has other plans. He revealed that his focus has turned to next year’s Mr. Olympia.

Report: Urs Kalecinski Suspends Current Season, Plans Comeback for 2027

Fans and ambassadors of the sport have been vocal about Kalecinski’s potential. Former four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler believes that with careful preparations, Kalecinski could capture the elusive Sandow trophy in a few years with more size.

“Just remember your vision is that end game. I know you want to win it, and I know you think you can. I’ve seen the content, and I really, truly think, in time, you can win Mr. Olympia in the Open,” Jay Cutler shared.

Meanwhile, Terrick El Guindy labeled Kalecinski a superstar. Between Kalecinski’s dry conditioning and posing skills, the IFBB judge believes his Open ceiling is high

“He’s always diced. In addition to that, we have one of the best posers in Classic. He’s going to differentiate himself in the Open. He has beautiful lines.

“All those attributes, conditioning, posing, and beautiful lines will be with him in the Open. He’s going to have to add muscle mass, and he looks like he has no problem doing so,” Terrick El Guindy said.

Growing into the stacked Men’s Open division takes time. Fans are curious how Kalecinski will look when he finally makes his way back to a stage. As of this writing, it looks like that will come sometime in 2027.
