Wesley Vissers is taking a year off from competing, but that’s not stopping him from getting in some intense training. He recently met with powerlifter Larry Wheels for a chest, triceps, and delt workout on April 27, 2025.
Vissers is one of the top competitors in the Classic Physique category. He won the 2024 Arnold Classic Ohio and UK contests. While he entered the last Mr. Olympia with huge momentum, he missed the mark and fell to eighth place. In his return at the 2025 Arnold Classic, he took fifth behind the champion, Mike Sommerfeld. Then, at the Detroit Pro, he found success en route to silver versus rising star Matt Greggo.
Larry Wheels went on an aggressive chase to earn his IFBB Pro card in Classic Physique but decided to quit the sport to focus on his health. However, it appears he’s changed his mind, revealing that he’s back in prep for a show in five weeks.

Vertical Chest Press Machine
Vissers shared why he prefers a full range of motion and deep stretch on the vertical chest press machine, revealing that this helps keep the delts from getting involved.
“I’m a fan of feeling the stretch but also the contraction right here, but without actually pulling your shoulders back. So, keeping your shoulder base back a little bit to get a good contraction in the chest but without the front delts being involved,” explains Vissers.
Incline Chest Press Machine
‘The Dutch Oak’ suggested implementing a narrower grip on the incline chest press, a small detail that can result in huge gains.
“The version that Larry’s doing right now with the narrow grip is way more difficult than with the normal grip. The squeeze here makes it a lot more difficult to do, but that’s bodybuilding.”
Pec Deck Machine
To make this exercise more challenging and less fatiguing, Vissers thinks about bringing his biceps together for a big squeeze.
“The flys like this, you can make it as difficult or as easy as you want. So, I could do this with a full stack, but I would be training also the delts and other muscles, so what I like to do is think about bringing the biceps together, and getting an ultimate squeeze. The squeeze will zap your strength immediately, that’s a great way to make this movement a lot more difficult and less fatiguing.”
Standing Dumbbell Rear Delt Fly
During standing dumbbell rear delt flys, Vissers favored performing at least 20 reps to get blood into the muscle. Wheels focused on proper form to ensure his traps weren’t recruited too heavily.
“With these, I like to stick with 20-plus reps, getting a lot of blood in there. You can feel the side delt working, perfect.”
“Trying to not get too much traps in there,” shared Wheels.
Standing Overhead One-Arm Cable Triceps Extension
Lastly, Vissers shared why he pursues the stretch over a contraction when performing one-arm cable triceps extensions because it allows for greater stimulus on the long head of the triceps.
“I focus more on the stretch because here, if you want to force a contraction, it takes away of the strength you have left on the stretch. Here you want to focus mostly on the stretch here to keep a peak stimulus happening for the long head of the triceps,” he said.
In between workout collaborations, Wheels has kept busy on social media, offering fans tips that are easy to incorporate. Above all else, the powerlifting phenom said to focus on using proper form, including heavy compound movements, and rest and recovery to maximize your time inside the gym.
For now, Larry Wheels is keeping his next bodybuilding show under wraps. However, if he makes a formal announcement, Fitness Volt will keep you updated on his latest endeavor.
